Pride of the West next. The team might be on the up, get a bit of spirit going on and off the pitch. Fivers in!!

I read on OTIB that they were unable to unfurl the Murray surfer in the East End due to a lack of space and when it was suggested to open it in the Dolman the people who 'own' it didn't want it in there unsupervised?

If I donate, thats not how I see it working...

Money was put up front by fans in the Eastend to get one right away and its been bought and used. They are raising money for it and there are people to help out. ST want to buy several flags as stands are different sizes.

When I was being asked to donate for the first Murray surfer I cant remember being told that it wont be for use in the Dolman stand? or the people who own it will make decisions on whether it will be allowed up there or not?

That flag could have been used perfectly safely in the Dolman against the side who inadvertently created it. and would have looked good.

Opportunity lost because someone got precious about it...

I dont know to be honest.

I'm all for every idea that helps to create a better atmosphere in the ground, but if all the stands contribute then the flags should be shared accordingly.

Surfer flags aren't new and we have managed to pass them around the stands without volunteers in the rain before..

It might already have been suggested to use it outside of the EE!! Too short notice to get a group together to get it sorted. You can’t just walk in and unfurl a forty foot high flag mate without running it past a b and c.

    Yes.
The murray surfer is down to fans in the Eastend steaming in to get the idea going mate selling badges stickers etc last season. So get two or three done. Surfers used before did have volunteers as they were done via the SC. Then one day somebody couldnt be arsed to do it right stuck a surfer away soaking and it was ruined. Several grand wasted. That was twelve years ago now the club etc need fire certificates and more which were not needed before.

Well now they know they will have plenty of notice for next time and they can run it past a, b and c now mate. Save doing it on the day.

That is called natural law, those who have the drive to go out of their way will make decisions because otherwise things do not materialise. The ideas behind that Angry Robin [Ernie] where very much diy, come on let's get proactive etc.

I was gutted when I asked in the shop, if they stocked the Ernie mug, they just looked at me blankly, asked what it is. That big drawing in the EE <doh>

Many were never going to get it. Bit of a pity they way the whole thing Ernie - when the moon shine thing turned out but the main thing was people gave it a crack and the surfer will be around for few years with some of the other ideas.
