Managing director Jon Lansdown says Bristol City are ready to sell players, as they prepare for life in League One. "We have got some talented players here and they are sure to attract interest." He added: "If you're getting offered good money for players and they want to go then you're not going to stand in their way." But Lansdown insists they will remain competitive in the third tier, even with budget cuts: "We'll be one of the bigger clubs in League One, with one of the bigger budgets, and we'll be set up to perform as best we can. City have been a Championship club for six years, and are funded by Lansdown's multi-millionaire father, Stephen. "There's a strategy here. That's why I walked through the door," said O'Driscoll. "[Staying up] was always going to be a tough ask but we've never concentrated on that. It's about how we do things and understanding how we can play as a team."We'll try to remain positive. There's enough negativity in football so we won't concentrate on that. We want to be positive and move forward." O'Driscoll commented in another article, "That result and performance sums up the club's season," said O'Driscoll. "The players gave it everything in the second half, but couldn't take the chances. I would now imagine that there will be the unedifying scramble for your best players in the summer. Albert Adomah must be the most prized asset.
Yes, Adomah will be on everyones short list, but will go to palace if they don't go up. Skuse will go to your club, and the rest will be a bit of a mystery
For a bit of fun lets value Some of our players (by that I mean what we think we will get) Adomah - £2,000,000 (10k) Cunningham - £750,000-£1,000,000 (5k) Kilkenny - £200,000 (10k) Baldock - £1,500,000 (7k) Davies - £1,500,000 (7k) Heaton - Free (7k) Skuse - Free (10k) Nyatanga - Free (5k) Carey - Free (3k) Stead - Free (15k) Gerken - Free (5k) Apart from Cunningham I could imagine we would see all the above leave (plus others who are out of contract) Now I don't know if these are the exact wages per player but its a rough guide, Im pretty sure stead is on 15k as it has been said quite a few times. So add it all up and it should be around 84,000 a week, This would be (if my calculations are correct) just under 4.5 million a year saved, Now this is a rough figure as you know but I should imagine its fairly close. This looks like its the way to go. I imagine Lansdown has instructed O'driscoll that Big named players are no longer on our radar and we will have to look in the lower leagues to find our new team, Plus the youngsters and any remaining players left. I don't think we are going to like the look of our team next season ...............New GK Moloney New CB McFadzean Cunningham Anderson Kelly New CM New LM ...........New ST New ST
How on earth can you put any value on a bunch of overpaid and underperforming players that clearly had very little motivation to get the job done for their employer. Most of them are a disgrace to their chosen professionand remember they have played for a team that has gone nowhere in the last 5 years and now we want to sell them to help make our bank balance better. Would you seriously consider any of them if you wanted to improve your Championship squad based on their performances during the last few years? As for Albert I'm afraid I think he's yet another dreamer (ala Maynard) who may score goals but his commitment must be brought in to serious doubt when you think that some goals from him during the African Nations thing might have had a bearing on our plight. We are in a pickle if we believe that any of the players up for sale will fetch even a reasonable price. Sad all around methinks.
You look at the ones shiny has given a value for he's actually prob gonna be spot on only one who hasn't shown much is kk mainly cause unlike Leeds we don't play 5 in midfield and look deadly cause no one can put a ****ing tackle in
Put Kilkenny in as I think a few teams wanted him in the summer. Forgot to add the money we got for the players which was just over 6 million, So we could POTENTIALLY save 10 million, Shave that off of 14 it doesn't look so bad. As I said though this isn't actual figures just a rough guide.
I think more will be saved as thats the previous year and we haven't got cisse and a few others who were big earners
Why would we sell Cunningham? He signed a 5 year contract and still has 4 years left. Same with Baldock and Davies, at least two years left so unless the offer enables us to buy better we shouldn't sell them. We only have about 12-13 first team players actually contracted for next year so i'd doubt we are in a position of having to sell to balance the books.
Our board has said we will sale players. The ones of have put up (beside Kilkenny) are our best players.
Also, surely even we aren't daft enough to sign a center back that has a cardio virus, hasn't played since last November and costs £500k+?
Meh, by all means sell the likes of Adomah and Fontaine . But if Davies and Baldock are sold our strikeforce consists of Ryan Taylor and Wes Burns. Obviously if they ask to leave then they've got to go but only for decent money.
I think 3 million for both would be ok, Would rather keep them mind you. Davies and Baldock partnership in league 1 will be ****ing deadly.
****ing hell shiny accountancy is not your greatest ability is it. You have demonstrated how much we save for not paying the players, well done. Do we now get the replacements to play for nothing
I would wager a substantially large sum of money that you are light on Cunningham, Baldock and Davies wages Shiny...
