I voted for Sam Baldock, if we had 10 others with his determination and commitment we would be either thinking off going up or at least play offs.

Not the best lover of forward captains, but been impressed with him. The time he squared up to the Rotherham (I think) player when he bundled Burns over was one time. The other was Saturday when PNE were dominating and he turned back to the defence and said "get ****ing forward" when the defence was hanging back allowing them to come onto us.

The one player I would blow a sigh of relief if he's here in September, but would not hold it against him if he left.

At the start of the season I probably would have been happy to see us sell Baldock in January. He was scoring, but not to the level we were sold on when we first bought him. Most people on here thought that he'd tear the league apart with his scoring, and while he is near the top of the table we've been a poor side and we're quite lucky to survive this season.

That being said, he's not once dropped his head, and his mind has been completely on getting us up the table. I too am not a fan of forwards as captains, and especially not of having a player that hasn't even spent two years at a club as captain, but he's become a model leader for us.

That being said, I think he can still improve his game. The two seasons he's been with us he's had to work under three different managers, and has barely had a reason to smile since joining. Next season, our expectations will be a lot lower, and I think Baldock can flourish without this added pressure.

Baldock was one of the few shining lights of a terrible season, so it's only natural that he is our player of the year.

    Sam Baldock..

He's had a few opportunities to leave us and has stayed to help us stay in our league. He had that terrible patch in November/December which all strikers have. JET has had his from February/March. Baldock showed great character to come back from some very harsh criticism, all that whilst captaining the club, which he has been great at. Gives 100% in every game and that is what you need in a striker. 22 goals with a few games left is great and he fully deserves it. JET was a very very very very close 2nd.

We really need to offer him a new contract, along with JET.

I voted for Captain Sam. His leadership has been even more outstanding than his goalscoring. A superb year for him in a struggling team.

But I must also say that I consider Derrick Williams to actually be the outstanding player of the season when one considers the fact that he had only played one first team match at his previous club, Villa. He has been a tower of strength and consistency in a defence that even now is prone to unexplained lapses.

He'll win Young Player of the year. Another great addition to build a team around. Him and Osborne are our best CB partnership and should be one we start with next year.

I thought it was a toss-up between JET and Sammy.

In the end I went for JET because his form early in the season was exceptional in a side that was struggling.

By the way - JET is young enough to win the young player of the year award

He is indeed young enough but because he is such a big player for us and one our best, people over look his age, forgetting he is only 23... Will be great to see what player he becomes when he is 26/27

I love the way when the ball get played into him from the right wing he turns to his right (back to goal), lets the ball go across him and drifts inside - he makes it look effortless

I will never get bored of watching that

its easy to vote for the top scorer, a no brainer, if the rest of the team didn't perform and do their bit they would not be worth their salt.... Osbourne not been here long enough and his record is not that good!

I've gone for JET mainly because he can do those special things that others can't and it is nice
to have someone who can get you off your seat. I also suspect he has assists for a fair few
of Baldock's goals. I agree SB has shown a good attitude all season and always gives 100%
but while others accuse JET of not doing so I just look at his record in terms of goals + assists
and wonder why the hell people get on his back.

JET appears as lazy, so much he can now be described as doing a JET. But he is brilliant when he does his thing.

Wagstaff is an underdog, but hasn't made a big impact compared to others.

Williams has done well, but I think he wasn't consistent enough earlier on, although he has improved.

Osborne has settled well, he tempted me but he's only been here 5 months.

Which leaves me with Baldock, a league top scorer, tries to get players motivated, always gives 100%. I rate him so much that I sadly believe he'll be at least in a championship side next year.

Since nobody thought to put El-Abd in the nominations, I suppose I'll have to go with Mr Baldock - for all the reasons stated above.

a toss up between sam and jet but Jet kept us in touching distance on his own while o dismal was in charge, without his early season form we would be down already.
