Bristol City legend Alan Walsh wished rapid recovery from illness by Bath City. please log in to view this image Bristol Rovers youth coach Alan Walsh had a 30-year association with Bristol City. Bath City are wishing a speedy recovery to Bristol footballing legend Alan Walsh, father of defender Phil, after he was taken seriously ill. Phil, currently on loan at City from Margate, missed Monday night's 1-0 defeat at Havant & Waterlooville to spend time with his family. City director of football Adie Britton explained: "Unfortunately Alan, his dad, is quite seriously ill. Phil told us on Friday but played [against Chelmsford] on Saturday and wasn't quite himself. "We've been in touch over the last couple of days and some things are just more important than football. He wanted to be with his mum and we wish them as a family all the best." Alan is currently the under-18s coach at Bristol Rovers but is more renowned for his connection with Bristol City, where he scored 99 goals in 287 appearances as a player before spending 11 years on the coaching staff Famous for the Walshy shuffle, Alan also played for Middlesbrough, Darlington, Beşiktaş, Walsall, Huddersfield Town, Shrewsbury Town, Cardiff City and Hartlepool United before finishing his career at Twerton Park. I loved this guy, especially his magic shuffle, I really do wish him and his well and thank him for what he did for Bristol City.. http://www.bathchronicle.co.uk/Bris...wished-rapid/story-20849074-detail/story.html
Been supporting city for 40+ years and he is still one of my all time City heroes, wish him all the best and hopes for a complete recovery!!!
Get well quick big man Still love his goal against Sheff Utd in the Play Off semi when we won 1-0 at AG and drew 1-1 away (Carl Shutt) before we lost the final to Brentford (I think?)
Things go beyond football - aside from his ability on the pitch, he seemed to be a nice guy So get well soon Walshy
One of my all-time favourites. Wasn't it him that hit the post in the last few minutes of the League Cup semi against Forest at AG? Still remember the horizontal rain in the Open End (crackers corner) that day. He had real class - good luck to him.
Speedy recovery Walshy, one of my all time favourites, bet Shiny would of ditched Marv for Walshy if he ever saw him play.
Yes it was. A miserable day all round in the stair rod rain especially after the 1-1 first leg up there. The pitch was awful....that's our excuse anyway !
