The club are without a keeper after Tom Heaton joined Burnley and Dean Gerken and Lewis Carey were released. O'Driscoll said: "People are contacting us. The attraction is that we've got a number one position available. "It's a case of whether they fit in with what we are trying to do at this time from a financial point of view." Seven players were released by City in the wake of their relegation to League One and the search for a goalkeeper is currently O'Driscoll's main recruitment focus. The 55-year-old told BBC Radio Bristol: "We have had some really interesting enquiries from some top quality goalkeepers, some with Premier League experience and a lot with Championship experience. "We are close on one or two things with a goalkeeper, but nothing that really looks like it will get over the line in the next couple of weeks." http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/22886157 There are 2 lines from this article that's tells a story... * "It's a case of whether they fit in with what we are trying to do at this time from a financial point of view." * "We are close on one or two things with a goalkeeper, but nothing that really looks like it will get over the line in the next couple of weeks." The first one says the age factor does not matter only the finance,so we could get a good old one, the second is totally confusing, he says, "We are close", then states," Nothing is happening".. Typical SOD's way of double talk and confusing us...Is it a case of 'Don't hold your breath' or ' Watch this space '...?
I think you misinterperated what he was saying Shiny I think what he is trying to say is he is in advanced talks with at least one keeper but nothing will be decided because either they are talking to other clubs as well or they are still under contract and anything he says might alert others to whom he is talking to.
I spoke to my old boss the other day about Lee Camp, his response was " you are welcome to him, he caused a dressing room atmosphere whilst he was there" He's not had any reason so far to fool me regarding players, also he said he heard that they might also be interested in Adomah with a player swap deal, but does not know who the player is.
Paul Rachubka released by Leeds Utd at the end of last season played 3 times for Manchester Utd he might be someone who S O'D has spoken to. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paul_Rachubka
