Fond farewell as Frankie Fielding leaves the building Tuesday, May 7th 2019 City have bid a fond farewell to Frank Fielding following the end of his contract after six years at Ashton Gate. Goalkeeper Fielding became a popular member of the squad since arriving in the summer of 2013 from Derby County and has played an important part in the club’s progress. Fielding made 181 appearances for City, including a crucial role in the Robins’ Johnstone’s Paint Trophy and League One 2014/15 double-winning season which saw City return to the Sky Bet Championship. Named in the 2014/15 PFA Team of the Year, he is City’s longest-serving player along with Marlon Pack and fans heralded him with the ‘Frankie Fielding’s in the building’ chant. A frustrating final season saw him bounce back from a hip flexor injury and viral meningitis for a run of seven games before a fractured hand ended his campaign. City Head Coach Lee Johnson said: “Frank has given great service to Bristol City and we thank him for all he has done for this club including helping us win our first title for 60 years and getting us back into the Championship. Frank’s positivity and energy has been infectious, and he has been a key member of the squad. We will miss him and wish him all the best.” Gallery please log in to view this image

A crowd favourite, serenaded from the stands with ‘Pisa, Pisa, Pisano’, he scored against Brentford back in December before netting the winner against Blackburn Rovers in February. City Head Coach Lee Johnson said: “Eros has been a pleasure to work with and has added to the squad both on and off the field. I know he and his family have enjoyed their time at City and in Bristol and we wish him all the best.” Meanwhile, goalkeeper Stefan Marinovic has been released following the end of the short-term contract that saw him make one appearance after arriving in March, following injuries to Fielding and Niki Mäenpää.
