After our disappointment against B/ham I thoght I'd put this up early to get the ball rolling again.

Delboy would have had the boys for a week and I reckon they will respond by giving us an away win.

So I'm going for a win and a score of.....

    .....Barnsley 1-2 Bristol City.......

So do you think win or lose and what score...?

Edt...don't forget the winner get's to delete a "gashead" of their own choice....<laugh>

Don't know why, but I love Oakwell - has a "proper ground" feel to it.
    Anyway - I'll go for 1-1

The realization may dawn that we have 3 square pegs to fit 3 square holes in defence........

We now have 6 STRIKERS AVAILABLE

    And as many midfield..........

    so go 3-4-3

As long as our strikers stay up their defence will be occupied, I fear we have been playing our attack to close to home...have you noticed...of course you all have dont need to bring that point up....

To win this game, our new manager has to instill the ability for our midfield and attack force to be able to pass the ball to each other coherently

Maybe for the first time in 4 years, we might get some semblance of a way of playing that involves the above and, ONCE WE DO, I am confident that we will start picking up points and climb to safety.

However, I am not sure that 10 days is enough time and Oakwell is not a happy hunting ground for us so I would be happy not to lose this one...

Frankly with our record over the years at Oakwell and our recent run of impoverished points gathering, any draw from 0-0 to 6-6 will be a very good result.
Have read another thread on fans opinions about where the problems lie, so here are my thoughts on the squad.
Gerken should be in goal. For a Christmas present perhaps SL could buy up DJ and Hunt's contracts, and persuade Henderson to come back as no 2 keeper.
Our best right back is Ribeiro if he's fit. Spence and McGivern appear naive defensively. Wilson - did DM leave him out because he thought he needed a break? May be still too inexperienced to handle this losing run but has done well considering his limited number of games for us. Fontaine - is his ankle up to a hard slog through the winter? Nyatanga even though he's not too comfortable at left back has done reasonably well at centre back but isn't quick enough! Carey - like DJ maybe a season too many? Stewart - slower than Nyatanga and nowhere near as committed to the cause. Jamie McA - Please hurry back if only to answer some of your critics. We've missed your grit at the back. Yes at 34 your not so fast as you were but at least you let the oppositions wide man know you're there and you are not a shrinking violet when it comes to some rough stuff. And why don't we get Joe Edwards back to play left back until JMcA is fit.
Wide Midfield; Albert is my first on the team sheet. Yes, still too erratic with crossing but 100% committment every game and he frightens defenders because he runs at them at speed. JCR is not my favourite. Tends to go across in front of defences because he's right footed and doesn't have confidence in his left foot. Woolford - I would play him away from home as he is better defensively than JCR but still a big disappointment since he's been here. Leaving in Jan? Bolasie is a promising youngster and as Hansen says, you don't win things with prom.. youngsters. If McInnes wants someone on the left to run at people, let Reid have a go. He looks the best young homegrown midfielder since Gow.
Central midfield; My apiring is Cisse and Marv. A good holding man who will allow Marv to go marauding. Is Kilkenny any better than LJ? Just a younger version. Cole Skuse a good regular sub cos he can fill in so many positions. But not crafty or creative enough.
Strikers; The best one is obviously NM but is he the best team player? Certainly he is not the right one if we play 4-5-1 although lets hope DM does not go down that old Millen route. Only top international and top Champions league teams can play that formation. Lesser mortals are not good enough!
I may be wrong but I am beginning to question NM's enthusiasm for our cause; eg. 2 badly missed pens and the continuing saga about a new contract, so will the board want to move him on in January? I don't think he is indispensable. Very few come into that category from my 60 years watching City and NM does not rate with Atyeo and half a dozen others. Even the much loved Bob Taylor only did it for one season. Is NM a one season wonder?
I've been impressed by Stead's skill but does he also have a dodgy ankle like Fontaine? If no, then him and Pittman as our front pair. If yes, then Pittman and Clarkson. I think DM may know how to bring out the best in Clarkie. Taylor is raw but he has physical presence that neither NM or BP have and if we continue to launch high balls at the front men, then Taylor has some chance of outjumping / outmuscling big centre backs.
It's going to be a long long autumn and winter in BS3 but even as a life long pessimistic City fan, I have some hope that McInnes will get a style of play that is joined up and that the team join in the matches from first to last whistle. This league is the hardest of all. There isn't much to choose between any. Hence the reason why so many are struggling when expected to shine. It is the hardest to perform in and predict. Look at Palace and Derby last season and now. Where did those two get the spark to lift them up so high? Burnley, Forest, Reading, Leicester all probably under-performing. Are City also under-performing or in need of total reformation? We'll know by the end of November when DM has had six weeks here.

bit harsh on Spence there, were where we are because of the whole team, win together lose together, and if you want mcallister back then well, you need your head examined, hes dire i think.
