I went to Brentford today and though we drew and didn't do that well, the atmosphere was brilliant. We have about 1300 Chelsea fans packed into the lower tier of the Brook Road Stand which is all terracing. It was awesome. Loads of chanting. Bouncing around. A lot better than all these seated away ends we go to nowadays. Why not bring it back? I know safe standing is a step in the right direction when this comes to mind but the proper terracing. The terracing we all love. Why not bring it back? People will always mention Hillsborough when you mention terracing and the disaster that occurred there. Wasn't that due to the metal fences at the front of the stand? Terracing doesn't have any safety issues. Today was fine and though people were going mental, it was great fun. I say bring back terracing at football grounds. It would certainly improve the atmosphere.
Yep definitely. It's the only way to get the atmosphere back to football. Grounds are like libraries these days.
Agree too. gillingham away was the last one I think? Can people remember any other away days standing since the mid90s.
I remember at Scarborough away in 2004 in the FA Cup we had a whole stand of Chelsea (seating) and next to that there was a corner of just standing (terracing)... That was my last time before today.
