We're not going to go down, we're going to finish where we are now, we're out of the FA Cup so I really don't care what Saints do between now and the end of the season. I'll still follow them but I'm not shelling out £35 to watch a game where Saints have very little to play for. A complete waste of money. When Saints lose I won't feel disappointed at all and when we win I'll shrug my shoulders and say, season's over, doesn't matter. It was far more interesting last season when Saints were battling relegation. I travelled to places like Norwich and Newcastle because the team needed all the support they could get. They certainly don't right now. If they don't care about the FA Cup, I won't care about the rest of the season. I'm upset that I care more about an England friendly than I do about Saints right now. I'll see you next season Saints.
Mainly agree, as I said in the match thread, can see this season going exactly the way the end of last season went. It will just peter out now.
Understand how you feel Tom but are you really saying you wont get a kick out of turning over West Ham or beating Liverpool at home. One bad performance doesnt distract from what has been a great season.
Nope. It's been a great season in the league, but an appalling one in the cups. As a result, we have virtually nothing to play for now.
Yeah, we might as well start mixing in the other young 'uns on the fringes...there's really not much point running Rickie into an early grave. Also, I want us to run out a team entirely consisting of U18s against Man U on the final day of the season (unless we're battling them for position).
Well said Lamb. I am as frustrated as anyone at today's pathetic effort, but a good game against the Spammers and we'll all have forgotten how we feel now.
Poch clearly wants Champions league or nothing , so unless we go all out and win every game ( even then i can't see us cathing up ) . The seasons over !
Bit of an over reaction. People are quick to forget how far we've come and how ****e things were 5 years ago.
I won't. We had a great chance to get to Wembley and obviously Pochettino and the players felt that wasn't an incentive. There were no excuses to not put out a full strength side. Why the **** would you play Guly and Kelvin Davis in a game like this?
Poch has gone down a lot in my estimation after today. He cheapened his own achievments and for what?
That's just not relevant. Do we, or do we not, have anything to play for this season, other than whether we finish 7th, 8th or 9th?
Neither of those players was the reason we lost today. I was more annoyed that Schneiderlin and Rodriguez didn't start, but it was Yoshida's and Lambert's errors, as well as Lallana's, that lost us the game.
I know. It was Pochettino for picking them in the first place. If we had put out a full strength side and lost, I would be able to stomach it but I highly doubt we would have lost if we had.
I know it was very disappointing, but for the majority of the second half we had almost our full first team on the pitch. Nothing to do with team selection in the end, the players just didn't want it enough. Sunderland made 9 changes, we made 6. Just not up to the races, unfortunately.
So you're saying that it wouldn't have made a difference if Morgan and Rodriguez had been on for an extra hour?
Finishing as high up in the table as possible has massive financial implications. There's a big difference between finishing 9th and finishing 7th. This has been a very successful season for Saints so far, I couldn't be happier. I'm not going to pin everything on one game and one poor performance, it takes everything else out of context.
The difference is not massive. Related to the money each team gets from TV rights, it's a pretty small percentage of that.
