After last nights annoying 2 goal capitulation ( that's put mildly ) we turn our attention to Cardiff. 7/9 is a good haul I agree with Mick but from what I've seen / read we were crap last night and certainly were at Huddersfield. It's points what count though..... These gained points do set us up nicely for this - in around about way it's kind of a free game as we do have the game in hand at home to Blackburn on Tuesday. I'll be going - living in Bristol this is a great chance for me to get the train have a few beers and put the world to rights. If anyone would like to hear my bizarre views before the game in a pub from 12, half time, after the game while watching England beat the Welsh in the rugby feel free. Cardiff has been somewhat of a happy hunting ground from us in years gone by. I must have seen us win there 3 times, and another win when in Latvia when the game was bizarrely shown in the Kiwi Bar ( Bullard x 2 ) Have a feeling we'll draw this. 1-1. Hopefully Pringle / Bru are fit. Didn't sound like Foley was quite so good last night so perhaps a Skuse / Hyam partnership could be the combative way to take this on. Be a very hard game this, and based on Blackburn H Tuesday - which looks a decent winnable fixture, I would be more than happy with a point * unless we do what we did at Bolton. COYB.
After my Bru analysis quickly came back to bite me on the ar$e last night, I'd like to take this moment to blow my own trumpet and remind everyone I correctly predicted we'd get seven points out of the last four games. See, I do know some things, guys! In that vein of thought, I can hardly be angry with the team for meeting my expectations (albeit my rather cynical expectations, but there you go). I presumed the Bolton game would be one the games where we'd pick up all three points, and we were very close! Last night's capitulation is a particularly bitter pill to swallow, but it would've been even more disappointing had we deserved anything from the game. When you yield a majority of the possession and register six shots to the opposition's 23, you'll have a hard time arguing we deserved all three points. What is worrying for me, heading into this double bill against Cardiff and Blackburn, is that, Forest aside, we haven't put in one good performance since the turn of February, when we narrowly beat Reading 2-1. We have a decent record against Cardiff, true, but I think we'll lose there and just about grab a victory against Blackburn. The two games after that, Rotherham and Wolves, will also be tough games, especially with Warnock doing well for the former. I'll stick my neck out again, and say that across the next four games, we'll pick up six points.
I'll go for a 3-2 win. Westy, were you at last nights game? If you were, you got a mention in the comments on the twtd match report (2nd page, about halfway down)
Moment of truth last night. The team performance from the start was plainly not good enough and all credit to Bolton who in a last ditch bottom of table, dire financial straits put us to the sword for much of the game. Gave them far too much space, time on the ball, and let them come at us. Respect. I withdraw my hasty comments on Ainsley. It wasn't a penalty. Tough lesson for the kid. We are where we are, and in with a shout......just. Westy, I also remember several matches when working out west,, a fine stadium, great sporting crowd, lost my car, unbelievable friendly supporters, free drinks..."What, you boyoh come all way from Suffolk tonight, what?!" And trouncing them both games! Would be more confident if we had a win under our belts. Tough, dour gritty 1-1 draw. I am as I say, now predicting an unsatisfying, ME questions need answering, top 8 at end of season.
I'm heading down. Not confident about this one, but that may only be because I've not watched us win, through any medium, since Preston. Still, I'll predict we'll be 1-0 down at half time but win 2-1
I'm going too, with my daughter and my brother. Needless to say I expect us to play like sh!t and go down 2-1, but really it could go any way depending upon which side wants it most. I'm normally quite up for it but can't get very worked up; I have a bad feeling about this. But then my predictions are invariably rubbish! Worse still, I have to be in a recording studio at 08:30 the next day... in Devon! :-o
Can see us getting something today. Would be classic Ipswich to grind out a disgustingly ugly win today but then drop points at home to Blackburn & Rotherham next week. 2-1 to the Town
My heart, on this glorious Spring day, is singing out a fine away win in surprisingly style with flair, 2-1. My head reverts to MM type..and says grudgingly 1-1.
That was indescribably bad. No ideas and no urgency to implement them if we ever did. It was as if at no point did we ever realise the idea of the game is scoring. Gahh!!!
Our defending at corners hasn't been good enough all season I thought we would have learnt our lesson after the Bristol City match, on the plus side it sounds as though we played well and really tried to win the game, ten games left on to the next.
