Not going to go into massive detail here, however- * We bounced back in the best possible way after the 5-1 loss. * On the Leeds thread I've discovered we're unbeaten against Brum in 7. * Brum have started the season very well however Forest brought them back down to earth with a slight thud. * No idea if Skuse was injured but that could be very good management by Mick bringing Coke on to for the first time suggest Skuse's place isn't 100% a guarantee. That has to be good for us. * Hopefully Murphy will be nearer being the Murphy of last season with some fitness in the bag. Side note - what bar is going to show this with the rugby world cup starting!!!! AHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!! 2-0 Blues I'll go. C O Y B. Attendance 19,500.
I'm feeling strangely optimistic for this one, despite it being in front of the cameras. I'm unsure what the goalkeeping situation is right now (pretty sure I read somewhere that Bart is in line to make a return). The back four is unlikely to change, which is for the best considering we're coming off the back of an impressive clean sheet in a tricky away fixture, as well as the fact Knudsen needs the playing time to get settled. With regards to our midfield, I would like to see Oar, Bishop, and/or Bru to make some kind of appearance. It'll be interesting to see if Oar can live up to his reputation and I think a televised home game is a good way to introduce him to the fans. I'll go with a narrow 2-1 win, but Birmingham have exceeded expectations thus far. My main concern is that Birmingham are a relatively pacey side, with several good young players in the squad, so if they set up to counter us on the break (like Reading), we're going to have a few problems at the back! EDIT: Attendance: 19,763 (kids for a quid) Does anyone on here follow the rugby? We've got a tough group, but Wales have been hit by a few injuries to key players and home advantage will certainly help. If we finish first, we'll likely play Scotland and Ireland in the QF and SF respectively, which are both winnable fixtures. Finish second, and it'll likely be South Africa and then New Zealand!
A very tough call this one as I have a feeling that Birmingham are going to surprise a few people this season and be a real force in the league. My heart (if I have one) says 2-1 Town but my head says 1-2 Birmingham!
" With regards to our midfield, I would like to see Oar, Bishop, and/or Bru to make some kind of appearance. " Be interesting to see who would miss out of the 18 to allow these three into the squad - we actually have quite some depth for the first time in ages! Toure/ Tabb/ Coke potentially? Good to see Connolly back and McDonnell in the side. Could Alabi prove quite a handy addition ? ! The Carling Cup has been incredibly useful this season for keeping players happy - Three rounds with plenty minutes. Fully expect like Mick says several players to leave on loan after this cup game which is brilliant! I think we've got enough to beat Brum but it won't be easy.
Could be a tricky one tonight. Brum will be looking to bounce back after a poor performance against Florist. I can see this being an entertaining 2-2 draw
Haha have a good night Spanish! Interesting reading this - http://www.oddschecker.com/football/english/championship/ipswich-v-birmingham/winner We're lengthening with every bookmaker, Brum have come in from 4.50 decimal to around 4.2. We've gone from 1.85 to 2.0. BIG shift. Wonder what's attracting Brum, they overpriced or do people genuinely fancy them? Got a feeling Donaldson may net for them tonight.
Very strange Fraser not starting considering his form although will be interesting to see how Sears and Pitman fare alone tonight Are we going more direct tonight at the cost no target man? But at least we have decent options up front so will be really interesting Looking forward to this match should be a goodun
