over and out, goodnight Couldnt see anywhere else to post it, not like we have a match thread or owt? Haaaaaaaaaawaaaaaaaaaay!
They had a great result at the Saints on Sunday. Can see us getting a point though. We just need Gus to show some cojones and go for it.
As long as we give a good account of ourselves and play positive football (without passing the ball to milko all the time) then I'll be happy. If we get dominated and lose with only one shot at goal, then I'll be pissed. This is a good litmus test as to whether we've turned a bit of a corner and are pushing for 12th, or whether we're still struggling in the relegation mire. For me, it's not so much the result (important as it is) but the way we play and what we show.
Swansea parked the bus at St Marys we should do a similar job on them, go too Gung-ho and we will lose. A win would be a watershed result, but I would settle for clean sheet tbh.
Yes mate, my thoughts exactly. Even though we want to let Alvarez, Giac and Defoe off the leash to produce entertainment, this away fixture at Swansea is a prudent time to accept a draw and then start afresh with an out-and-out attacking mindset in our up and coming home fixtures. It's easy to get carried away, but I'd take the draw all day long Clockstander.
Think this game will suit Alvarez personally... Just because of the way Swansea play and that dirty bastard Chico isn't there any more either! I'd take a draw now TBH but hope we smash them!!
But not a great performance imo ....... only 1 shot on target, no corners and, iirc, about 1/3rd possession. I'm setting off tomorrow afternoon and down for the weekend, I'll be surprised if we lose down there. There's a lot of people travelling a long way for this one ....... Haway Lads!!!!
Head coach provides an update on Rodwell, Johnson and Wickham. Jack Rodwell, Adam Johnson and Connor Wickham’s chances of featuring against Swansea City are rated as 50/50, according head coach Gus Poyet. The injured trio missed Tuesday’s 3-1 win over Fulham at Craven Cottage with a trip to the Liberty Stadium next on the agenda, as the Black Cats aim for a third consecutive win. And speaking to safc.com, Poyet admitted there are decisions to be made. “It will be touch and go for Adam Johnson so it is a big decision tomorrow, but we have got a few of them. “It is incredible that on Wednesday last week we had 20 players available with Lee Cattermole the only one out, and then we went from there to having five or six out of Saturday. “There are a few decisions to make tomorrow,” continued Poyet. “I think one [Rodwell or Wickham] of them has a chance but the other one doesn’t, but we will wait until Friday. “It will depend on the other players as well because if Giaccherini is alright then we won’t take a risk with one of them, so we will see everything together.” Emanuele Giaccherini and Ricky Alvarez both impressed in the Lads’ FA Cup triumph with the latter scoring his first Sunderland goal, and both players could feature against Garry Monk’s side. “You need to be smart in your squad and it is important to have options so you can adapt to different games. “The mobility of Giaccherini and the ability of Ricky helped us a lot in the game against Fulham and if they can bring that week in week out it is going to be difficult for the rest to get back in the team." He added: “I always say to the players to be in the team when it clicks and we start winning because then it is going to be difficult
We will give them a game no matter who plays, remember we have Lars refreshed and hopefully he will help Briddo cover our back four, this will be a key area, no pun intended.
It's been a while since you managed that, first week of the season wasn't it? Still, your last home game was impressive and losing 3-1 to 2nd division Blackburn Rovers was away so that doesn't count. As you've not won at home this year I suppose there'll be a massive crowd there in anticipation Is Bony still knocking them in for you?
Tough game and I would be happy with anything other than a defeat..A win and I might just be seeking out that Monk character though..
I'm always happy with a point away in the PL, no easy games are there? We've only lost 8, the same as Swansea, so it should be an even game.
I said on a different thread that I feared we might take a real pasting given our inconsistency - fear that a bit less given we`ve run 2 on the bounce (seems an age ago since we last did that regardless of the opposition)...now a glimmer of hope is starting to emerge in my head - we`ll see Saturday I suppose or is that the eternal pessimism of being a Sunderland fan?
the goal came from shelvey not being closed down ,he had efforts before this (off target) but no doubt our tactical genius will have logged this for the team talk
