not as manager of course.... bring him back just so i have someone to abuse to clear the frustration over todays performance. i cant abuse mcghee as i quite like him. so come back buckle today wasnt good was it really? route 1 to harrold but no one near him. looks like we have another city agent on our hands with clarkson! i wasnt impressed at all with him. my 1st game today as not been to any pre season games and i saw exactly what i thought i was going to see. no balance, no pace, no clue, no fitness.... no nothing. if you play virgo at CB who is slow and still not 100% you need a fast CB to partner him. but instead we play a slow LB at CB. finally given up on constable. only taken mcghee since end of may to do that! now we have just 2 weeks to find plan B. our spine is wrong. on loan keeper with lack of experience. slow and lack of CB's. gill only experienced CM who is not very good and injury prone and not match fit. he needs replacing. and we have no fast CF to partner harrold or challenge harrold. we all know the spine of the team is very important and im struggling to understand just how we have not addressed this issue throughout the summer and pre season and how mcghee thinks its acceptable to start the season in the dog mess that we are in. im sure mcghee will turn it around as he is one of the best managers in this league if not the best manager. we are one of the biggest teams in this league with one of the biggest budget which includes money for lambert getting to the prem, sinclair playing international games for GB and the sale of carayol and zebroski. again im sure he will turn it around but with his experience/contacts and size of our club/budget in this league he should be getting it right 1st time. he had 2nd half of last season to decide his squad and all summer/pre season to add to it but hasnt. hopefully he sorts it out sooner than later and things improve big time. i expect new faces in the next 2 weeks. at least 3 signings - CD, CM AND CF. nothing less.
I'm hoping for the best and fearing the worst. You've summed it up well cjs.................. -'keeper played well, but yet again he's on loan -Smith expected to do EVERYTHING on the right flank -Virgo bossing everyone but seriously found lacking -Patterson doing a professional job but he ain't no CB -L Brown looking v good at times but he lacks consistency -Gill looking pretty but contributing nothing meaningful -W Brown bustling around, with Lund/Clucas/Norburn playing 'Spot the Difference' -Joe trying earnestly but he forgot to put his studs in and loses the ball too easily for a big bloke -Clarkson tracking back alot but when is he going to score a bluddy goal in open play?! -Harrold working his socks off but lacking support and pace Things improved when Richards and Broghammer came on, but Oxford were on the bus and on their way home by then. The match was just a continuation of pre-season performances..at least that's consistency! ..and Aaron Downes put in a 5 star performance at the heart of Torquay's defence in an away 0-0 draw at Fleetwood!
