I can't deny we are doing brilliant, far superior to where I thought we would be, well done the team and management. please log in to view this image
Thought we ran out of ideas in second half and our shape, changed with the red card.....But great result, well done To LJ & the team..
Great result, poor performance. Eliason was ineffective and we just lumped it long too often when Durjic came on. Sometimes you have to dig results out and this was definitely one of those games. Sheff Utd palyed well to be fair, a lot of their attcaking moves reminded me of us against Boro last week, very very similar styles. Hoping Koreys injury is not too bad, although he looked in a lot of pain, we can ill afford another 2-3 month layoff for a midfielder.
We seem to have that fight in us which has a will result in its fair share of extra points - despite riding our luck at times, yet again the team turned one point into three. Injuries are a worry, but even one good signing in January could make a big difference. Promotion is still a big ask, but the team is staying in the conversation and deserve credit - the longer it goes on the more realistic a prospect it becomes.
We played very poorly, yet we took the points.Bodes well when you still win. Sheffield Utd looked a decent side, reminds of us in our championship playoff year. Dare to dream
Thought we were very poor, can't believe we actually won the game, but who cares, what a season this is shaping out to be and what a team we have, bloody fantastic
If I was a Sheff utd fan I would be very disappointed, in all fairness, we were outplayed for most of the game, gave the ball away so many times, we were slow to the second ball, if they would have kept 11 on the pitch, I think they would have gone on to win the game, just my honest assessment, we were poor and still won, due mainly to our super striking defender AF.
We were poor , Sheff Utd were better than us for large periods, but how often does it happen when you don't turn superiority into goals you end up falling to a sucker punch at the end. Despite not playing well and constantly giving away possession we kept on battling , managing to grab all three points at the death. As for everyone suggesting we wouldn't have won had they not had a player sent off, who knows , fact is they did. Bottom line we didn't play well & yet managed to grind out a result away at a team that are 4th in the table, happy days. The only down side for me is possibly another key player injured, the amount of injuries to key players could become an issue. I believe how we cope until the injured start returning will define how the season ends. What a ride this season has been. COYR
One of our absolute strengths is the depth of our squad, it really is superb, from the first teamers, to those around the periphery of the squad, and then the youth players coming up as well. Unfortunately, the only position where we don't have that luxury that I can think of is in centre midfield. Korey has been immense and if he's injured, we're going to have to seriously hope Bakinson is as good as has been suggested. Failing that, we might see Bobby dropping back into midfield, Joe Bryan shifting into there, or even a recall of George Dowling.
By the way, I know Fielding isn't popular with everyone......but what a fantastic save he made....worth a goal in my eyes!
He's a great shot stopper, as good as any keeper in the division, his distribution isn't the best though, but the good is definitely outweighing the bad currently. Regarding Flint, he has now become a talisman to the side, I worry about January around the corner. we should pay him handsomely now, he deserves it.
I've finally found a way around whether I can see the game on BCTV, or not, and that is by placing a 1 dollar bet on Bet 365 which allows you to see the live feed. I truly thought we were going down to defeat yesterday but the footballing gods decided we needed all the luck that could come our way and we prevailed. Thank goodness someone invented goal posts, crossbars and Frank Fielding otherwise a different result might have occurred. The red card was well deserved and I thought they may have had a second dismissal for the foul just before we got the winner. We will play a lot better than this and lose, so let's celebrate the win at a generally very tough place to visit and get points. Sheff Utd look like a very good team that will challenge for the glory and today they ran out of luck against us. P.S. The bet I placed had City to win 2-1 and I was ashamed of myself by screaming at City players to take the ball in to the corner during the last minutes and not to score, but a nice day all around and the extra money has already been spent by Ann. (psst - it was only 20 dollars).
By the way, think we should have had a pen in the first half when Flints shirt was nearly pulled off his back.. And I know that RR won't like this, but I'm not sure what Matty Taylor brings to our team.....doesn't do it for me, think the championship is a level too high for him...maybe he will improve, but just not there yet.
100% agree, to me he offers little to nothing, especially in his favoured position as a striker, he couldn't hit a barn door with a banjo. He did OK as a make-shift winger last season, but we now have O'Dowda, Patterson, Eliason and Lecko to cover that area. If it wasn't for the injuries to Fammy and Milan, I reckon MT would be on his way out the door in Jan, most likely on loan. It will be interesting to see how much game time he and Engavll get between them in early Jan when Milan is out and Fammy is finding his way back to fitness, as almost certainly one of them will leave in May.
A view from those up North... https://footballleagueworld.co.uk/h...ffer-mixed-views-over-controversial-red-card/ I have to agree that the ref was awful, we got next to nothing in decisions from him. http://www.bristolpost.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/thats-proper-tackle-chris-wilder-901434 Also found this, Chris Wilder must have watched a different game to me, Sheff Utd got all the decisions their way. An interesting view on the red card, I wonder if his view would be different if that tackle had been on Leon Clarke or Billy Sharpe..... As for saying that Flint's goal was offside and it was a "proper tackle" by Fleck, I can only assume Chris Wilder went to the Neil Warnock academy of football management.......
As a city fan I don't see how the ref was awful, if it wasn't for him playing advantage twice, we certainly wouldn't have scored those two goals, so for me it's a massive well done referee.
Great result, well done to the lads and Manager We didn't play very well but still got the 3 points and that proves that if nothing else, there is good team spirit and will to win like we had under GJ during our 2008 campaign. Long may it continue !
