Best performance of the season easily. Fair play to Pardew he got his tactics spot on.

We used our physical advantage and wore Spurs down. We pressured them with our pace and we fully deserved the win.

Most players were excellent today and we look like a side that can definitely clinch a top 8/9 spot if we keep going.

    Ratings -

Krul - 10 - Timmy you sexy beast.

Debuchy - 8 - Some ****ty challenges, but good performance.

    Willo - 8 - Solid

Mbiwa - 9 - Superb. World class performance.

Santon - 6 - Not as good as the others, some poor defending, but still good.

Tiote - 8 - Great performance from the skipper again. Some poor challenges, but mostly great pressure on Spurs.

Sissoko - 8 - Great chasing down and was a bit of a pain in the balls for Spurs.

Gouff - 8.5 - Good assist and fantastic defensive performance. Intercepted passes, chased down well, worked hard and played a part in our attack.

Shola - 7 - Nothing special, but good hold up play and did his part. Good lad Shola.

Remy - 8 - Good goal and great work. Some poor hold up played and running, but good all round performance.

Anita - 8 - Great when he came on.

Obertan - 5 - At first I was like -.-, but then he did quite well defensively for the rest of the game. Fair enough, but Gouff should have stayed on.

    Pardew - 8 - Well done bitch.

    MOTM - Timmy.

    Thought you were outstanding.

Too often teams follow fantastic results up with poor performances. A 12pm kick off all the way down in London and the appetite and desire your side showed was unrivalled. Would have been easy to fold after that liberty of a kick off time.

Pardew has tactically outwitted Mourinho and AVB in back to back weeks. I'm not a fan but fair play to him.

Well done to Newcastle, we played into your hands by starting the game with a highline, no defensive midfielder and brad in goal, which meant Remy just needed one chance to use his pace and score.

Sandro should be the first name on our team sheet and while we created chances and your keeper was outstanding, our attacking play is lacking in any real fluency and we didn't deserve to win the game, so fair play to you and your manager.

Absolutely delighted with this win and performance. But I disagree with Mbiwa's rating. He was a timebomb waiting to explode, threatening to give away a penalty or a dangerous free kick at many different points in time but Chris Foy was a harmless ref today and let everything go.

Timmy was absolutely incredible today, and as a unit the back five was outstanding, including Mbiwa. All I'm saying is he doesn't deserve a 9 but instead a 7.5 or a 8.

Gouffran did a superb job at tracking back against the pacey Spurs right flank, and if only Ben Arfa could do half a job that Gouffran does.................

Obertan was pretty much horrible again. Is he a winger or not, I can understand wanting to keep the ball but he is a fresh sub, and he is supposed to be threatening the opponents with his pace. But bring him on, let him go up the pitch only to do 5-yard passes to the tired legs of Santon/Cabaye/whoever was with him, and then let that said player dribble himself to death against the double team? I'd rather have Obertan take on the freaking fullback and create something. Might even get a corner while he's at it. He made 1 decent vital tackle, but I didn't like the rest of his play at all. That said, we do not know if it was Obertan's ingame decision making or orders from Pardew not to do anything stupid, which made it worse as what he did was dumb.

Edit: Scratch the part about Mbiwa, I think actually 8.5 - 9 is a decent rating for him. He made that amazing clearing on the line , but that is negated by some of his fouls, all in all, I hope he gains confidence and only gets better.

A point wouldn't have been an unfair reflection of the game given all of your second half chances so fair play to you for coming on and giving an honest assessment <ok>

As a toon fan I'm just so proud that we defended for our lives (something we're not always used to seeing).

Good luck for the season <ok>

Santon I'd give a 7. He was done a couple of times by Townsend and Eriksen, but he made a couple of superb blocks, made a fantastic interception and was pretty decent with ball at feet (he was fouled a few times, none of which were given by the ref...).

Anita was fairly disappointing when he came on, he misplaced loads of passes and wasn't as energetic as usual, but I still think he was the right sub to have made.

Lets just hope that this brilliant performance really kick starts our season. We now have to prove that we can demolish teams like Norwich, who are next up, despite the fact it may cost Chrissie Hughton his job.
Well done lads, proud of your efforts today.

only downside to the game was the amount of times we were offside again, surely something to be looked at.

However we were brilliant overall, hate to say it but the derby defeat has done us the world of good

To be fair Tash, Gouf was blowing from 70mins onwards after a heroic amount of effort.

Until he consents to work for the team, I don't think HBA will see the first team. I'd have to agree with the management, just too much of a luxury.

BUZZZZIN! Critical the team remember what it is like to get back to back wins, how they achieved it and that we can do it against top quality opposition. Great result, made more so off the back of last week. Best we could of expected was 1 lucky point at best out of these two. To get 6 is massive.

Gouffran is a top, top lad for us – unexpectedly he's been the best of the French signings.

He won't bag you tons of goals and should have scored today but his application and workrate for the team is first class.

Plus he normally gives that at the very least EVERY game, runs through a door for the cause.

If I was Pardew I'd be telling players like Ben Arfa and Obertan to watch him as a shining example of how you go about performing in the Premier League.

He is frankly undroppable from the side, superb.

Definitely. Shola deserves to stay in the starting line up - it'd be great if we had something better though.

Ben Arfa played his best and most consistent football for us when he'd had to fight to get into the team (2011/2012 season?) - he actually did some tracking back and worked pretty hard for the team once he'd broken into the starting 11. He's definitely reverted to type now though, so Pardew is completely right to have dropped him. Hopefully it'll be the kick up the backside HBA needs to start turning it on again.

Great result today credit to both the team & pardew it's looking like the team spirit is growing which can only be a good thing and hopefully when we concede in the future the heads don't drop like they have in the past and the team spirit will kick in , great win Chuffed
