http://www1.skysports.com/football/...n-under-21-coach-simon-ireland-leaves-for-qpr Another step in the right direction?
He could be our way of taking some of CR's duties away to lighten his work load. I don't see how he could manage the first team and continue his youth duties too.
Finally a sign that TF really means what he says about building a new long term policy around youth rather than gradually winding down his financial commitment to the club which has looked like a more likely objective with everything that's gone pear shaped for him recently. I for one am relieved and the recent thrashing of the U-21s by up and coming Brentford tells you how much this is needed.
I can't remember who it was but someone on here had connections to a player in the Brighton youth set up. (think it was the son of a friend) I was wondering if they had any insider knowledge on this guy.
I seem to remember Hughes brought in a guy who was overseeing our scouting and youth but he departed PDQ without much success. We really need to build from the ground upwards so hopefully this will be the beginning because we're a long way behind even some League One and Two teams...
The words are exactly what we've been crying out for. It'll take years before we know whether there's anything to them but I'll take it as a very positive indication of unified intent from TF and Les down throughout the rest of the staff. Well done.
