We've only won 2 of our last 10 matches against them, so they've been a real thorn in our side. However, with Caicedo suspended, and McAllister still not available yet, I'm hoping we can take advantage and win. Won't be easy though.
Everton holding Man City at The Etihad and Leeds United drawing with Newcastle. We need to take advantage of these results and extend our lead at the top!
1-0! Saka! What a start! Great interception by Partey, good direct run by Martinelli, shot deflects to Saka, who slots it home cooly.
We’ve had some really promising moments, which we haven’t taken advantage of, but Brighton are starting to grow into the game. Need to get a second soon to knock the wind out of their sails.
Martinelli is taking too long on the ball. He’s losing most of his 1v1s against Lamptey. Needs to take him on the outside more, rather than constantly showing him on the inside on his right foot.
Anthony Taylor is a joke. He calls a foul against Nketiah when Dunk goes down extremely softly (and Eddie would have been through on goal too), and then he doesn’t call an obvious foul when Gilmour tackles Nketiah from behind. useless.
2-0! Odegaard! Saka’s corner cleared and Odegaard’s scuffed finish from the edge of the box goes in. Well in control now - good stuff
Actually, just saw the goal again and Odegaard did that Ozil technique when he bounces it into the ground and it deceived everyone to go in. Very cute, intelligent finish.
HT. 2-0. In control. Had some very good opportunities in settled play and in transition. Odegaard continuing his superb form and Saka proving why he’s one of the best wingers in the world. We’ve not been at our vintage best, but we’ve done enough to be winning and put in a good shift. My only major grumble is Ramsdale has looked a bit shaky from corners/crosses and this referee . Booking our players for non-incidents. Means we have to be extra careful in the second half to not get anyone sent off. Let’s hope we see this out now…
This Season is crazy - If we can make it til late Feb keeping the top stop in the table (Jesus's return from Injury) then we will win the league IMO.
Think a lot will also depend on how we/City do in the other competitions, what players we sign in January and how we do in the H2Hs with Man City, in addition to the injury situation. Still have a long way to go, but right now, we are looking like legitimate title contenders - which none of us in our wildest dreams would have thought at the beginning of the season.
