Some of you may know about this already, but as it's for a good cause, I thought I'd help spread the word: Hi fellas As a distant City fan but regular Scarborough Athletic supporter and joint owner, I'm after a favour. I would be most grateful if you could give the following match some coverage and spread the word. Hopefully a few Tigers may fancy a day out? This Sunday our former Hull based gaffer Brian France will be having his Testimonial Match. It is at Queensgate, the home home Bridlington Town at 3pm. Boro also use the venue for home games while the stadium issue back home is dealt with. Admission is ã6 with concessions ã3 and a special programme will be issued. All monies raised will go to Brian. Brian took us to the Northern Counties East League Division One title and was the clubs first manager from when we were formed in 2007. Sadly earlier this season he was involved in an accident at Liversedge when a ball hit him in the face and he suffered a brain hemorrage. He is still recovering and he resigned his post earlier this season. The match on Sunday is between a team of Scarborough and Tigers old boys. Below is the info on City taken from todays Scarborough Evening News: Hull City will have a number of familiar faces when they take to the Queensgate pitch on Sunday in the Brian France Testimonial. A trio of former SFC players in Paul Mudd Andy Saville and Michael Price will be in the Ex-Tigers squad , joined by a host of City aces from down the years. One of the best know Tigers will be Dean Windass who is Brians son in law. In a career spanning 20 years Windass made 640 appearances and bagged a grand total of 203 goals. He will be joined in the attack by SAFC assistant manager and Brians son Darren France. Russ Wilcox who has been assistant manager at both Burnley and Sheffield Wednesday will be aiming to boss the midfield for Hull alongside former Brid manager Tim Hotte. Hotte whose son Nathan turned out for Boro last season has worked alongside Brian for a number of years with their main successes coming at Goole and North Ferriby. Former Oxford and Hull bruiser Malcolm Shotton will be planning to keep out the spritely Scarborough attack as will Peter Skipper who featured in over 300 matches for the Tigers. Boro will also have to beat keeper Steve Wilson who has still been playing non league football in recent seasons for both North Ferriby and Hall Road Rangers. Ex-Tigers line up: Steve Wilson, Adam Lowthorpe, Rob Dewhurst, Russ Wilcox, Leigh Jenkinson, Neil Mann, Dean Windass, Billy Askew, Mike Smith, Paul Mudd, Peter Skipper, Tim Hotte, Lee Warren, Steve Brentano, Andy Saville, Darren France, Mark Ledingham, Malcolm Shotton, Tony Dobson, Ken Harrison, Martin Thacker, Mike Price and Mark Richardson.'
Would love to be there, especially for such a great cause. There's a fair few names in that line up that overlap with my favourite ever players I just stuck on the other thread!
