It's a grey area.

 

It’s never a good idea to defend the indefensible be that on the right or the left of politics. But we should all defend the right to express reasonable views. I think we would both agree on that, so it just comes down to what is defensible.

 

Most of what's posted is social media, and readily available, if it's against the law it wouldn't be available.

 

against the law isn’t the same as being acceptable on social media. Terms and Conditions and moderation policies decide the latter. Twitter and more recently FaceBook would not allow the vids and some of the extreme comment under their rules. granted they have automated moderation and an army of what are in effect moderators and 606 doesn’t. Perhaps the threshold should be is the post racist or discriminatory or likely to incite or inflame either of those.

 

Maybe you should get a job with Facebook, this is just a football chat room, and while some posts upset some, they don't upset all, we're not a Nazi state so should avoid left or right wing censorship.

 

Nazi is right wing/ communism is left wing.
This is indeed a football forum and given our history as a club with the NF infiltration of the fan base in the 80s we should be less accepting of racism and bigotry than general social media platforms.

 

Nazis are right wing ? are you sure, well why do the left want to ban everyone, sack everyone who doesn't agree with them, kill or beat up the same, pull down and disrespect war memorials, all Nazi traits.

To be honest I've yet to watch any videos on the political thread, the reason being they are not the views/opinions of forum members but come from third parties. Personally, I'd prefer it if posters took the time and effort to write in their own words the message they're trying to convey rather than lazily lifting something from the internet using search engines.

TBF if you do that, one poster on here says Where's the link, video etc. but I agree with what you're saying, just doesn't work on here.

I stopped arguing/defending myself on here because I felt I was being labelled and there were those who felt they needed to educate posters who didn't agree with them.
This country is being slowly strangled by political correctness. It has reached epidemic proportions, for example, the latest spikes in covid 19 were in areas where there is a well known Asian population.
Before you jump down my throat. If the connection is there but we're not allowed to say it we are doing those communities a disservice. I don't know if it is just a coincidence or, in fact, it is centred on those groups. Do they know but just can't say it for fear of being branded racist? If it is the case then these communities need to be targeted and educated about the virus. Just to lock down the whole area may not help.

I read this thread and I do watch some of the media. I definitely don't agree with all of it but I want to debate with those who have a different viewpoint to mine. It's why this thread is so popular. I've taken a lot away from it and watched some stuff I wouldn't have seen otherwise.

The loony lefty thread love in lasted about 20 minutes.

You argue your point, you make a reasonable rational argument and whilst I may not agree with you, and you may not agree with me I can see your point of view. I respect your view and your right to hold it, as I do anybody.

It is not that I have a particular political view that I that I have a distaste for some of the videos that are posted here it is not about being politically correct it is about common sense and decency. They are quite often so far from the truth and so easily debunked that they are nothing more than some sicko putting together a bunch of mad ideas to get the clicks of their youtube station up to earn money.

On your point about spikes in Covid-19 I agree as there are similar spikes occurring here, for example in Melbourne, and sub-continental asian appears to be the main demographic of the suburbs where the outbreaks originated. It's not their fault but to be blind to this makes it more difficult to control and suppress. I find it no more racist than I find having to close down catholic schools or Thai restaurants racist.

It would be good to have a proper discussion about issues rather than resorting to these videos as points of wisdom.

 

There are lots of youtube videos that are available that if one was to post them here one would probably get a ban that would makes 2 years seem like a blink of the eye.

 

As a point of order;

Referring to posters who are not deemed to be the right of centre as the ' looney left ' is both incorrect and derogatory. I'm sure it probably started as a bit of humour but it's gone beyond that now.

In fact, a lot of the terminology on this thread especially when referring to each other is deragatory and should cease in my opinion.
