All parties have agreed according to SSN . Bressan is a cultured and technical centre back, who likes to pass the ball out from defence. He is strong in the tackle and can get stuck in, so a little like Laurent Koscielny. At 6â1â heâs not a giant, but having come through the same youth system as Cafu and Thiago Silva, heâs in good company. He's Brazilian and was rumoured to sign for Arsenal recently . That's the end of Dunne then.
Unless he's one for the future I can only see this being a poor move. 3cbs in a transfer window for a club of our size? Insane. It'd likely mean sidelining every single CB who played for us last season. Utter "leassonsNotLearnt" lunacy
Not sure what "a club of our size" has to do with it . As for sidelining every CB from last season , why not ? Dunne , Hill were never PL defenders . As for Onuaha , I'm not so sure HR and GH see him as the answer , as cover maybe . To achieve the 3-5-2 I see this as a good move . If we also get Jack Robinson then who is rumoured to be very quick plus Isla on the right then I for one can see the jigsaw coming together .
With Jack Robinson and Isla too, you want to replace our entire back 4? Goals against last season: #1 Brighton- 40 #2 Leicester 43 #3QPR 44 A club our size needs to just plug the necessary gaps in the squad- not unnecessarily sign 3 players in the same position. Fer, mutch, isla, rio, caulker may all be nice jigsaw pieces on paper- but the puzzle didn't look very nice when completed on Saturday. Squad turmoil buried us in 12/13, why do it again?
I doubt this has been rushed through in the last two days so would have been on the cards anyway. I know nothing about this guy. In fact, I just know nothing.
You've got to understand , which I'm sure you do , that the PL is on a different level and Dunne ,Hill , Traore and Simpson are championship players at best . Onuaha would be ok as a squad player . We are going to be up against the likes of Aguero, Costa and so on so yes absolutely I want us to change our back four ( or 3 plus 2 WB ) . Squad turmoil in12/13 was our downfall but that has nothing to do with how we are approaching this season . That was down to having the wrong characters which HR has addressed so there is no relevance in what you are saying . HR has more experience of the prem and I have faith in what he is trying to achieve . Saturday was disappointing , but I think it gave HR and GH more answers than questions which is a good thing . Look at the likes of Citeh and Chelski when they returned to the big time , they also completely ripped up their promotion team and look at them now .
I know nothing about this guy but think it would be a bit harsh not to give Ned a decent go. Hil & Dunne have been great servants for thier time here and always gave thier all. Its just age is catching up with them and time to replace.
Crystal palace survived last season with this back 4: Ward Delaney Dann Mariappa Aguero/Costa are part of a 7team mini league that are essentially irrelevant to us. Compete with the bottom half teams, and we'll be okay. Strive for much more after a promotion season, and you're likely to be overreaching. Championship "at best" is an unfair way of describing players that comprised practically the best defence in the championship (though traore was never really used as a LB). What have Simpson/Onouha done to convince you they're only capable of a peripheral role this season? I'm assuming you thought replacing Helguson, Kenny, Orr, Hill, Gorkks after the 10/11 promotion was the right thing to do? In hindsight most people seemed to wish we hadn't. I can't say I have much memory of City&Chelsea's first seasons back in the prem, but there are exceptions to every rule. Plus they've got the mega-money to bring in some truly world class talents. In recent times the more common model is that of Norwich & Swansea, who added sensibly without replacing the existing squad.
Understand where you are coming from , just think our expectations have progressed since 10/11 and we have learnt invaluable lessons from 12/13 . Swansea being the exception , Norwich couldn't sustain their position and neither by the looks of it will Palace . They were also restricted by finances whereas we aren't and therefore able to avoid the inevitable . What I'm saying is , they had no choice but to keep their back four whereas we can make that transition a bit quicker .
Fair enough Robina! I respect your opinion, and it's good to have a bit of proper football debate. Some well thought out posts Bressan himself does sound fantastic from your description
http://www1.skysports.com/transfer-centre/ The agent of Gremio centre-half Bressan claims Queens Park Rangers have reached an agreement for his client. Marcelo Lipatin told Globo Esporte: The way things are going it will probably happen. All parties have reached an agreement.
Likewise Grifter , although I do have to confess I was of the same opinion as your good self up until recently and perhaps it is a risky strategy being played out by HR . Of course, the players have to step up to the plate to carry it through . My faith in what the management team are trying to do could come back to bite me on the Rs . Let's hope not for all our sakes .
But would he cum in your face?
It doesnt sound like "Lessons Learned" to me. I don't know what to believe anymore. Brazil are not renowed for top quality centre backs (Luiz) so it would be a big risk in my opinion. If its true!!!!!
The talksport south American correspondent when asked about Bressan: "Well, he can't get into Gremio's side" He thinks it's completely agent talk
Bressan is only 21 so a signing for the future but has made 70 appearances in the last two seasons for Gremio first team scoring two goals.
Grêmio - English ‏@GremioEnglish 8 mins #Grêmio loaned Bressan to #QPR until the end of season, with a option to buy. Bressan renewed his contract with #Grêmio until DEC/16
