Unfortunately on Saturday I was at the Den watching Millwall v Brentford through work and not at the Cottage and unfortunately I have to report that Brentford are the best team I have seen this season in the championship! they were tidy, played good passing football had pace, looked dangerous in attack and solid at the back. I have serious worries about playing them. Andre Gray up front looked pacey and a threat, Pritchard (I think on loan from Spurs) and Jota were both very technically tidy players on the wings and there right back they bought from Orient looked pacey, got forward brilliantly and solid defensively. Millwall did cause them problems from set pieces and had a five minute spell in the second half when they scored twice and hit the bar by just pumping it into the box. On a side note Millwall look in big trouble very poor Another side note is our weak point appears to be our full backs where as two of the best players on the pitch at the den were Briggs at left back and Brentfords right back who cost about the same as Voser BRentford fans are up for our game as well they spent halve the game singing " only two weeks til Fulham, two weeks til,Fulham"
I think the way we are playing the forwards and attacking midfielders can be a threat to any team in this division, but our rear-guard is very suspect, once our opponents are in the last 1/3 of the pitch panic seem to ensue, still nothing can be done until the Jan window, and possibly with the right additions, as long as we are not to far off the pace " who knows". And as far as Brentford goes they have some old scores to settle, which should make for a good game.
Let's be honest, we had the same concerns about the games against Norwich, Charlton and Huddersfield to name a few. Let's wait and see what happens on the day. On the plus side, we beat them at our lowest ebb this seaon.
