In their infinite wisdom the EFL decided a few seasons ago it would be a great wheeze if the Championship, Leagues 1 and 2 all kicked off at different times, next weekend League 2 kicks off at 3pm, League 1 at 5.30 pm and the Championship kick offs at 12.30 on Sunday.
Absolutely nothing wrong with an early kick off time unless you are the fans of Swansea, Bristol City, Millwall, QPR and us who all have journeys of well over 200 miles not exactly fan friendly.
So my lucky ones whilst you are tucked up snugly in your beds next Sunday yours truly will attempt the get out of bed at 3.45 am to get on a coach to take me to Griffin Park, Brentford.
For those also attending Euston Station is closed that weekend and also their are rail replacement buses on part of the journet from Waterloo to Brentford, if you are walking best set off now.

Having done the last 20 away games including Norwich away on a Wednesday night, took a bit of persuasion to say let's do it, so tickets bought, will be wearing dressing gown, Slippers and smoking a pipe so will be easy to spot by those other insomniacs on here who will be going.

The Bees didn't play yesterday due to Bolton's strike have had their usual type of season have played some fantastic football at home(they have picked up 43 points on their own patch) whilst away from home turn into a side who cannot win.
Brentford seem to have a habit of buying young up and coming players and selling them on for a fortune also have a useful scouting system which brings in cheapish foreign players who actually turn out to be quite good.
The main worry for them is keeping hold of players like Maupay, Watkins, Sawyers and Benrhama. Will be especially worried if Villa go up as Dean Smith may come a calling.
My personal record at Griffin Park is pretty naff, although was there when two North End legends made their last appearance for the club at Griffin Park.
One was Chris Humphreys who came on as a substitute majestically putting a cross passed the keeper from close range,. sadly for the away support it was an own goal the keeper that day was Anders Lindegaard who didn't play a league game after that we lost 5-0.
Griffin Park is unique it has a pub on every corner of the ground, the pubs are the Griffin, Princess Royal, The New Inn and the Royal Oak, yep been in all four.
This is possibly their ast ful season at the Griffin Park ground as they are constructing a new 20,000 seater stadium which I believe is virtual next to Kew Gardeens station.
    Here's Brentford's wiki bit
Brentford Football Club is a professional association football club based in Brentford, Greater London, England. They currently compete in the Championship, the second tier of English football. The club was founded on 10 October 1889. They have played their home games at Griffin Park since 1904, after a nomadic existence playing at five previous grounds.

Brentford's most successful period came during the 1930s, when it achieved three consecutive top-six finishes in the top flight. The club have been Football League Trophy finalists on three occasions. Their main rivals are fellow West London clubs Fulham and Queens Park Rangers.

They don't have many famous fans Greg Dyke and this man

Manager Alex Neil will have midfielder Ben Pearson available, after the No.4 missed last weekend’s thriller against Sheffield Wednesday due to a family bereavement, however, he may choose not to risk him for the trip due to him sitting on 14 cautions.

Alan Browne returned and scored in the entertaining six-goal clash with the Owls, after an ankle injury had ruled him out for the previous couple of matches.

Season-ending injuries have already ruled out skipper Tom Clarke, Josh Harrop, Andrew Hughes, Brandon Barker, Tom Barkhuizen and Brad Potts, whilst Ryan Ledson will miss the second of four games for the sending-off he received at Wigan Athletic on Easter Monday.

Connor Ripley was given his debut against Steve Bruce’s side last Saturday and the manager will need to decide whether he wants to see more of his January transfer window recruit at Griffin Park.

Another January signing, Josh Ginnelly, will also push for his first start, having come off the bench in the last four games.

The Bees have not played since Easter Monday, due to the controversial postponement of their game at Bolton Wanderers last weekend.

Thomas Frank is without forward Said Benrahma (ankle) and goalkeeper Daniel Bentley (shoulder) who are both set to miss the rest of the campaign.

Defender Yoann Barbet (ankle) and midfielder Lewis Macleod (hamstring) continue their rehabilitation, but look unlikely to be involved against the Lilywhites.

The 2018/19 away campaign is bookended perfectly as for the second time this season we are officiated by James Linington, who refereed our first away game of the year!
    tford
The Isle of Wight match official took charge of our August trip to Swansea City, and was also the man in charge of the game the previous time we visited South Wales; our December 2017 victory against Cardiff City, when Tom Clarke scored a late winner.

James took charge of three PNE games last season in all, the trio all away from home, with the games being the 2-1 win at Hull City back in September, the aforementioned game at the Cardiff City Stadium and the 1-0 win at Sheffield United in our final away game of last season.

This will be his fourth Bees game of the season and his third at Griffin Park, the most recent being just over a week ago, for their Easter Monday victory over Leeds United in the capital.

Two seasons ago, the referee made his first visit ever to Deepdale for the clash with Wolves back in November and was then the referee in the away game at Derby County back in March.
The season before he was referee of the PNE game at Ashton Gate, when Greg Cunningham scored the winner against his former club and that was his third game in charge of PNE.

The other time he refereed North End was another game in the south of England, when the Lilywhites won 1-0 at Gillingham in the League One promotion season, courtesy of Paul Huntington’s goal in his first start of the season.

This will be James’ 34th game of the season, where he has so far issued 117 yellow cards and three reds cards – two of which came in the same game between Swansea City and Stoke City earlier this month.

He will be assisted by Dean Treleaven and Robert Merchant, with Chris Sarginson acting as the fourth official.

Brentford 3 Konsa Maupay, Forss Preston North End 0
Brentford line-up: Daniels, Henry, Canos (Forss, 79), Maupay, Watkins (Oksanen, 79), Dasilva, Emiliano, Dalsgaard, Jeanvier, Konsa, Racic. Subs not used: Gunnarson, Ogbene, Zamburek, Archibald.

PNE line-up: Ripley, Rafferty, Fisher, Johnson, Storey, Davies, Maguire (Ginnelly, 75), Gallagher, Stockley (Nmecha, 46), Browne, Robinson (Moult, 61). Subs not used: Rudd, Earl, Huntington, O’Reilly.

    Attendance: 11,289 (812 PNE fans)

    Referee: Mr J Linington

Was it worth the 3.45 am alarm well the team certainly didn't match the supports effort but that is why you support them through thick and thin over the recent weeks it has been very thin but come next August everybody will be refreshed and we will do it all over again.
Amazing away support again visited the three of the four pubs that were open some dressed as Peaky Blinders and one poor sod who was apparently on his stag do sported full Blackpool kit.
Given our early start 5.30 we arrived a good 2 and a halh hours before kick off so wandered round Brentford had a butchers at their new ground when finished could well be very impressive situated next to Kew Gardends tube station

As usual terrace veiw old school football
As for the match an early injury defender Jeanvier who was knocked out meant we had a 10 minute delay whilst they dealt with the stricken defender, he was well enough to wander round the ground in the Bees end of season walk round the ground

Probably looked the better side for the first couple of minutes untilBrentford hit their stride and when they did it was Franz Klammer territory downhill all the way

Both full backs were getting acres of space, Maupey missed a chance which personal view he should have buried, Ripley then try to out football lost the ball but managed to dive on it and a fine team move let in Henry he should have scored dragged it wide.
Robinson had an effort pushed away by Daniels in a rare North End attack.
Difference between the two sides they attacked at pace and we were ponderous. When they eventually scored we didn't defend brilliantly Ripley flapped at a cross ,the ball was returned into the box didn't deal with it and Konsa fired home from 8 yards.
Survived at 1 down at half time following another long stoppage due to a home supported who was taken ill near the dugouts.
Neal's usual end of season half time bollocking did spark a bit of a response but a sustained bit of home pressure brought a second Canos causing chaos ball across easy for Maupay and effectively game over.
Substitutions for us came and went made a slight difference but Bees substitute Forss basically scored with one of his first touches advanced on goal towards a retreating defence fired through a defenders legs past the unsighted Ripley into the bottom corner and given the delay we had had probably scored the last goal of the regular season.
Ripley made a great stop to prevent a bigger defeat and right at the end Ginnelly was denied by a defender and Daniels and there it was gone.
No complaints about the result they wanted it more than we did.

Brentford head coach Thomas Frank told BBC London:

"I'm pleased that we finished well, not only today but in general.

"It's a privilege to give debuts to young players - it was so nice to give a debut to Jaakko (Oksanen) but also Marcus scoring his first league goal is big.

"We know he's a talented striker that had a difficult season with a long-term injury - now he's coming back, so that's promising."

Preston boss Alex Neil told BBC Radio Lancashire:

"I'm naturally disappointed - I didn't think we really threatened Brentford that much.

"When we're going forward it amounts to nothing really, and when they're going forward they're getting shots on target, corners and applying pressure.

"We didn't do basics in the game well enough - our use of the ball was quite safe and pedestrian, we didn't move it quickly enough."

By the sounds of it, AN speaking to the LEP, there is going to be a clear out: Hunts, DJ and some on loan but not the young players. i suspect a raid on the Scottish Premier League. He has good connections up there and is well respected. When the squad was at full strength they could beat anyone: Norwich even. There is a weakness in the training schedule and he has brought in a fitness expert to assess the techniques.

Reading comments on the PNEFC Supporters website, DJ seems to run hot and cold but this is perhaps due to not being truly fit after his injury. I just wonder if because most of those playing on Sunday had been injured, they just ran out of steam in the last few matches. There were some serious injuries and maybe they were not functioning on a full tanks. Some say The Championship is the toughest division but one can get pole-axed in any division and have to be 100% fit.
