.... Promotion & New stadium is on the horizon.

Noticed a thread on WATRB's asking opinion on our neighbours, but we all know they have a lot of silly ****ers on that board, so I thought I gauge the opinion from our sensible bunch ;)
Cards on the table I have a soft spot for Brentford , used to go get taken there by the old man when we were away, and we always went to the derby with Fulham. So I respect the club & fans, lets face it can't have been easy over the years!
And if the worst happens, we might be playing them next season. Thoughts?

Absolutely no opinion either way other than being fond of the away terracing and memories of Bircham's goal. They really, really don't like us though.

Never thought too much about them really. When I started supporting the R's in 66 they were in the 4th Division and we never saw them in a League match until our 'wilderness years' after administration. Those were pretty feisty games though and were pretty hotly contested but I would never compare our rivalry as to that with Chelsea.

Having said that my uncle said through the 50s they were our main 'local' rivals and the derby games were really the highlight of the season for both clubs and they had a big following dating back to their days as a 1st Division club in the 30s. They were a top London side just before the War so there will still be a family following that will always give them a solid fan base, the new stadium and a bit of investment could be the beginning of their 'renaissance' and it would be good to see them do well...

Lots of fond memories of Brentford. My grandparents were fans and when I was young, I was often taken to the home games at the weekend and used to love it. I remember using it much like a scouting operation...trying to spot players that we should sign! ;) Spotted a good few players coming through the ranks there...Sinton and Ferdy spring to mind <ok>

I do not view them as a rival, but I guess my view is a little biased...just a good old local derby imo. As Watford says, I am pretty sure they do not see it that way though!

I have always liked the Bees, would go and watch when I couldn't get to QPR away games, I still look out for their results and hope they get promotion.

They are like an annoying little brother who is always there, craving attention and trying to make themselves out to be bigger than they are.
They hate us......but are disapointed that we don't hate them back.

Would like to see them in the Championship one day. No problem with them unlike with Millwall or Chelsea.

No problem with them, it's a cute little club. And Stan was there for a bit at the *** end of his playing career. Is Greg Dyke still there? For some reason I quite like him. Local boy done good.

Fuller's pubs to enjoy, as well!
I was surprised at how much they hate us when we played them last.

That my old mate is 100% correct.
We sing a song about sticking a blue flag up a Chelsea fans arse, while Brentford fans sing a song about sticking us on a bonfire.
Trust me though, their young generation REALLY hate us.......bless their chubby little cheeks :)

Bit of a childhood club Brentford, I like them though. Nice little club, with a good support and I quite like Dyke as a chairman.

I grew up in Turnham Green so if I hadn't gone on that one day with my Grandad to Shepherd's Bush I would've been going to Griffith Park every weekend.

They're the sort of club that would probably never go in to liquidation, really stable and could easily get to the Championship this year. If it was between them and Doncaster for 2nd place I'd honestly predict it would have to be Brentford.

But I guess they don't like us -_-

Can't stand them. As a gangly teenager I was sent by an agency to steward. Now normally you at least to get in the ground. I was given the car park five minutes away to man. Now they were playing Pompey and had to deal with loads of arsy fans asking to park. Like the idiot I was I even turned down a twenty pound bung! Only to get back to the office after the game and being told I wax sacked for having long hair and being scruffy. Irrational but always look to see if they have lost to this day.
