The Brentford Manager had been in charge for just 8 matches, winning 2 of them (1 of the 2 wins was against us). Steve Evans had been at Rotherham for 3 years and they had won their last 2 league games. Evans achieved back to back promotions to get them into the Championship. A club statement on the Rotherham website said that chairman Tony Stewart and Evans "wished to head in a different direction." The Brentford owner sounds a bit of a head case from what I've seen/heard of him. I still cannot understand why they got rid of Mark Warburton after the job he did in getting them out of L1 and pushing for the Premiership last season.
Goes to show that not all managers are created equally in the eyes of their owners. I can understand when the club is really awful but what does it achieve in the short term?
8 games is hardly giving the guy a chance- Evans surprises me too. Keeping Rotherham up is probably seen as success and he had done that. Won the last 2 games too.
Steve Evans is a larger than life character in many ways and I rather suspect from his public persona that he had no hesitation in telling his owner that he needed to get his wallet out if they were to do more than merely struggle to survive. The result = effectively the boot... Pure speculation of course but wouldn't surprise me at all as he is not backwards in coming forwards.....
