For their upcoming game against Shrewsbury, they're putting into effect a 'pay what you can' pay scheme. Basically, you go to the online checkout and enter a code for how much you want to pay. You can pay as little as a pound and I think you can even pay more than the normal ticket price. I think it's a great idea. I recon we should do that for at least 2 or 3 games this season to get people coming and get stadiums packed.
Makes no sense for us to do it as we are always fairly near a sell out anyway. It would only make sense if we are in the C with a 40k stadium.
Not sure it would work with us. Assuming (hopefully) that we will be either top or close to the top of the league this season then most of our games will be fairly well packed anyway (home ends that is). How many tickets would be left for sale on day of game. Brentford are averaging about 6000 this season and have a near 13000 capacity so have more leeway to do things like that.
I'm not sure I agree with the sentiment that we don't need to because we almost sell out. Firstly, it would be a way of introducing new fans to the match day experience. If they advertised it well, it would draw a lot of good attention to the club. Secondly, we don't need to do it at all often and it would be better for a new stadium. But almost selling out every game still could be improved upon. It would be better if more people wanted to go than there were seats available.
Why introduce new fans to seats that are painful and they will only be left with the bad views? That will put them off coming in the future, even with a new stadium. Better to leave it and attract them when watching a match doesnt involve not being able to see a goal mouth or having your knees stuck into the chair in front.
Why is this better? Can't really follow this logic. The right ones should be in the stadium as ir is today.
I think this is a very good idea, but not at LR. The ticket prices are fair as well. The question is how many wealthy people would be willing to pay over the normal price?
And just how many HOME seats are available? We played Sheff wed 1st game which was described as a sell out. Attendance was 17,626. Since then we have played (in league) Ipswich 17,075. Birmingham 16,953. Brighton 17,246. Did those teams sell all their allocation? At what point do we advertise the pay what you can..just to fill what would likely be approx 500 seats. How many real and regular supporters that turn up on day lose out to people who feel like a cheap afternoon out? We used to do a schoolkids go free in the past I remember....but that was when we were getting 11,000 turn out and had the room to facilitate trying to lure future supporters to us. I don't think we can do that just now.
With those figures, the only seats left were either in the away end or obstructed/singles. You can only do this if you are thousands under capacity.
