The FA have agreed to postpone Tuesday night's Brentford v Birmingham until late September so the pitch can be re-laid after complaints last night when they got hammered 4-0 at home to Oxford (who obviously didn't find the pitch a problem). Now, their manager last night admitted they're struggling with injuries and are victims of transfer rumours which are affecting certain players (we all know who he's on about there). Firstly, I can't imagine Birmingham been too happy - it's the right time to play them. Secondly, they've had all summer to re-lay the pitch. I smell a rat...
Ipswich complained about the pitch on Saturday. The BBC have this: Brentford postpone Blues match Football Posted at14:42 Brentford statement: "Brentford’s Championship match against Birmingham City will not take place next Tuesday. The match has been postponed and will now take place on Tuesday 29 September. "The decision has been taken due to the current condition of the playing surface at Griffin Park. The club believe the best way to ensure it is at a high standard for the rest of the 2015-16 season is to relay it as soon as possible." please log in to view this image Brentford FC BrentfordFC BREAKING | #brentfordfc's match against @BCFC next Tuesday, 18 August, has been postponed - more to follow 1:30 p.m. - 12 August 2015
As the pitch is abysmal but still playable Birmingham had to agree to it for it to be moved. They may be hoping Gray would have played on Tuesday but will have been sold by the time the rearranged game takes place.
What rule is being bent then? The fixture will be played on an alternative date agreed by the two clubs concerned with no impact on the length of the season or any other club. If anything, if we haven't signed him by then we'll stand to benefit from Gray not having to play on it again.
That would be a turn up for the books! Games get postponed, they get rearranged, the fixture gets fulfilled and the world keeps turning. Sure Brentford messed up on this one but its for the benefit of the other 22 teams that it gets sorted, Birmingham have agreed to it so there's really not a lot to make fuss about.
Be funny if Birmingham are bellyaching about fixture congestion by the end of the season. Brentford should be fined £7m (plus £2m "add ons") to be paid immediately. They'll just have to find the money from somewhere!
what, get ipswich to complain about the pitch? and a heft fine and costly relaying to boot? yeah, i can see that happenning every week.
You been able to understand something would indeed be a turn up for the books. Maybe we can get games postponed if we have a few key players missing?
