Brendan Rodgers claims he has no intention of applying for the Chelsea job, with it his intention to carry on building his career rather than 'destroy it'. The Swansea boss is considered to be among the finest young coaches in the country, with the job he has overseen at the Liberty Stadium earning plenty of plaudits. It has been suggested that he could be in the running for the vacant post at Stamford Bridge, with the 39-year-old having taken in a spell on the coaching books at Chelsea earlier in his career. Rodgers is, however, adamant that he will not be leaving his current post any time soon, with there no desire on his part to leave a stable job at a promising club and inherit the reins at a team in turmoil. So he will be appointed on Friday then
The one good thing would be he would buy DG who would have a decent shot at an England place, like he doesn't playing for a "foreign" club.
Well, I'd assume he is saying what he thinks the Swans fans want to hear, thinking he won't be offered the job... but if he were to be offered it would get interesting!
For the first time ever, i think he may actually be being honest. At Swansea he has the players he wants playing the way he wants and looking like they are going to survive their first season in the big time. If he walked out on that, its unlikely he would ever be able to go back, and the odds are almost certain that if he did not get Chelsea to finish 4th or higher then he would be sacked. It would ruin his career, and i dont think he is stupid. Greedy yes, but stupid no.
According to SSN, Chelsea aren't going to appoint anyone until the end of the season - Roberto Di Matteo is in charge until then. Maybe BR is saying that now, but we'll see in the summer if he gets the job and if he does, he'll say that the lure of Chelsea was too much.
