Any one fancy Sterling mastering the false 9 role? I think a false 9 between Sturridge and Lallana (or better, a signing like Reus) could work wonders.

no i think he'd be poor.

he is currently lacking a bit of confidence in front of gaol, hasn't a great shot, can't head it and in general aint a striker... he is not theirry henry here...

is a good player, potential very good but lets not ruin him fixing problems rodgers made for himself

the massaging of the numbers to be joint 4th... tehcnically accruate of course and still in cups... that sounds like rodgers is saying its no big deal yet.... don't worry... please... i beg you.

See I thnk differently to you on this MITO. I would definately give him a shot up front and play Lallana and Coutinho just behind him, or either side. Play counter attacking football and see how we get on.

He can run in behind very well and he knows where the net is. Yeah he cant head that well, but thats why we need to play to his strengths and go through the middle. At least until Sturridge is fit, then add some width.

I think he could a job while Studge is out. Then again, so could Borini. And Lambert, albeit in a different way.

  5. I think Raheems got a very good shot on him for a nineteen year old. Finishing is something that gets better with experience too

This, we can't do this pressing high larky, it's not working with Gerrard, Skrtel and Mignolet (edit as Mito pointed out earlier) in the team, so with Sturridge out, go 4-3-3 with the that top three, sit back a bit and counter with the pace they have as well as the pace Moreno and Manquillo provide wide. I'd prefer Can in the midfield three but it's going to be Gerrard but if everyone is sitting further back surely it should remove some of the gaping holes between the lines? Get the other two and front three closer to Gerrard and the defence...maybe some passing BR claims to love could then happen.....

Can't score any less than at present, can't concede many more than at present...and might as well be organised sitting deeper as a positive plan rather than as the cowardly reaction to being attacked it is so far.....

I can see Rodgers trying this against Hull. I really cannot see Balotelli starting.

I think we're wasting some of his talent up front. Not utilizing the best of him... he needs to come from a little deeper.

That said- other than Sterling we are dire up front. We kinda need to play him in a sub-optimal position because everyone else we have that can play in that position are crap.

Balotelli, Lambert, Borini are all crap. Owen Ghoal has scored more for us this season than the 3 of them combined.

i think ok guys what you say on counter attacking is ok but as a general tactic... 3 shorties all running towards our own goal is a nightmare for me... if we defend real deep and ask him to counter thats fine but the ball played to him must be very specific... we couldn't service badontelly with ball why should we be able to give raheem any chance v players who are 6'2" or more.

he'll be eaten alive unless the ball is in behind or alng the ground as a through ball.... no id play him left and ask him to go do eaxctly hwat he did v real early, run in behind beyond another player who makes space for him.....

Milk is right.... we are dire. this is all about filling in til sturrdige comes back and is fit. Borini isn't crap so much as average. i can't see rodgers giving him a go cos he hates him now. lambert is way too sow and balotelli is.........

so basically we are f'd either way... but i don't want to see sterling being monstered by big cbs on long punts... cos thats what'll happen unless coutinho gets it to pass through to him.

also the thought of the 3 up there to me requires an intricate passing game with lots of players advanced to pass it in round corners and such... which is scary thinking about the inevitable breaks that will occur.

No matter. Our training ground is not producing effective partnerships in attack. BR still has to figure out how to beat teams that gather behind the ball when we attack. Real even did it, allowing us to have 142 successful passes at the edge of their area to their 102.
