http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2011/oct/27/brendan-rodgers-swansea-josh-mceachran-chelsea? Well it's official. This could be a hell of a coup.
Hell yeah. At last, a Chelsea link this season. Thought he was never gonna tap up his old buddys for a bit of help
good player, i've seen him a few times on tv, last season i think he played for chelsea at home to zilina, didnt do himself any harm. its worked in the past with coyle who loaned in wilshere and then sturridge a year later, everyone benefited from the arrangement. part of me thinks is this sort of player suitable for a team who will be battling to gain points at teams like wolves, bolton, blackburn etc, who are all physical, but at the same time joe allen has thrived in this league, against montenegro (?) i thought he was different class and i said it on here, and first half against wolves he showed good technique and confidence on the ball, reminding me of a certain aaron ramsey i think rodgers is the best judge of how a player will contribute to swansea though, does anyone know if he has at some point worked with the likes of mceachran when he was youth coach at chelsea? if so that could give swansea an edge if they have any competition from other clubs to sign him
Sounds very promising to be honest, hope it comes off, wonder if he has played any games with Caulker and Sinclair ?
I kind of wish that he didnt come out in the media and say this(rodgers), it could start bit of a bidding war for the boys services , unless of course its already nailed on . Havent seen alot of him TBH but what i have seen he looks good . Seems a bit weird that rodgers is talking about this as early as October ,alot can happen between now and Jan .maybe he wanted to give the fans a bit of a lift before the Bolton game
From what I've seen he looks quality, but a mate (and Swamp) make a valid point about Joey. Surely it'd be Allen's position that he'd come in? I don't like the idea of Joey on the bench...
If the kid is an offensive minded midfield player then he is going to take the Routledge / Dobbie slot. Allen will be an ever present barring injury or drop in form. Britton will be competing with Kemy and perhaps Gower for the third position.
Rodgers obviously doesnt think we need muscle in the middle . I would be happy to see josh come here , it would be good for all concerned i reckon
I was thinking that, but then Britton, Allen and McEachran is a seriously small midfield! I think the "need" for a big strong central midfielder is over-emphasised sometimes, but still...
Apparently chelsea are very keen for the player to come to us. I'm not sure but is he the guy that is going out with he character Sophie in corrie? If it is then we will have the full set of kids of the webster family with Sinclair going out with Rosie,,,
Great news, hope he does go on loan to you so he can get some game time, his ready to step up in our first team now really but i gues AVB wants him to gain more experience. Josh is a very talented player and i think he'll suit perfect to the way your team plays aswell.
The problem with him stepping up to our first team to finding someone to drop for him on a regular basis. A think a spell like this would be most beneficial. Get him game time while the roster continues to evolve.
you can be certain he will have good guidance with Brendan Rodgers, hope if he joins he will like Swansea..
I dont think Josh needs or wants a spell away from home! Being involved in 4 competitions, we need player rotation, and even without planning injuries into the equation, our squad is going to be hard pressed to keep up! Stay here Josh , there's a fair few first team opportunities looming for you!
Agree with Norway. Wish he didnt come out in the press and say anything, would rather it be done on the quiet with no one else interested but tbh he has been linked with us basically since we started shopping in the first transfer window! Also agree with Scott. Think size is overemphasised a bit but then you get a game like Wolves away where in the last 10 - 15 mins we needed a player with a bit of physicality in the middle to stop or slow down the wolves midfield that had us chasing shadows.
Brendan Rodgers was a great servant at Chelsea as a Youth and Reserve team coach! He is still respected, but for me he is spending too much time attempting to lure young talent away from us to Swansea! I realise why, but we've got to put the block on it!
