Gotta say Im even impressed even more by Brendan after today

At least it seems we have an attacking, positive, forward thinking manager

Got give credit to Brendan for starting both Coates and Stirling who were both excellent

Believe our starting 11 was the youngest in an EPL games since 2003

Id be very surprised if we dont see gradual continuous improvement while Rodgers is our manager.IMO light years more innovative, courageous, positive and attacking than our last 2 managers

    Reina 6
    Johnson 8
    Kelly 6
    Skrtel 7
    Coates 8
    Allen 8
    Gerrard 7
    Shelvey 6
    Borini 6
    Suarez 7
    Sterling 8

Good all round team performance,Sterling was excellent but tired near the end,Allen looks like an awesome player,Johnson a player who sometimes gets stick was also excellent as was Coates. If we keep playing like that dont think we will be far away from top 4.If we had a fox in the box we could get higher.I can only see the team gradually achieving continuous improvement under Rodgers

Brendan RESTISTING the temptation to sub Sterling near the end too

Rodgers is such a POSITIVE, aggressive, attacking manager, great move giving Raheem the full 90

Must admit I am very impressed by the line-up he picked. Although I said he should play Coates I expected him to play Carra, bringing in Sterling was great to see too and sends a great message to the youngsters that you have a chance, whilst sending a message to the established players that it's performances that count. Still not convinced he will do the same with Gerrard but only time will tell. Much more positive for the future now, whilst the result was great; for me it's more a belief that Rodgers will make the correct and tough decisions when required, also a great start to Anfield from Allen!

Allen ran the show. Gerrard looks like he loves playing next to him and his interview after the game showed how eloquent the lad is. I now see why Rodgers has bigged him up so much, great signing.

Sterling held his own against quality opposition. Partly at fault for the first goal but at 17, he's a terrific prospect.

Johnson has always been one of the best attacking RB's in the league......of course he didn't show very well under 'don't cross the half way line' Hodgson but who did?

Coates looked good when it settled down and Kelly also looked assured. To think there are some more younger kids knocking the doors down and a couple of extra signings to come is positive.

First 20 minutes I felt a little nervous every time they broke, there seemed to be so much space in the middle of the park but after that, we simply controlled everything......we really do miss a quality number 9. Would of love to see an in form Torres in this set up but someone like Sturridge would work, or even Defoe.

Could really do with a couple of clean sheets to settle the defence down.....and 3 points would be nice versus Arsenal but all in all, positive stuff yesterday; good signs of good times ahead!

I was listening to some of the match in the car on the way home from work. Lawrenson was summarising and,as he did at the Olympics, he absolutely rubbished Coates and even suggested that if Moutinhio had been manager he would have " hooked " him. So when I finally got sat in front of the tv I was expecting to see a complete disaster in the middle of our defence.
What I did see,in fact, was a young man standing up manfully,ESP against Balottelli . A little rash in the challenge sometimes but i think he will be excellent for us.just needs more game time.
I know Lawro was a great player for us but he's a bloody awful pundit who seems to have a real downer on young seb. Who would have thought that rat face would be better at summarising Liverpool .

  9. I don't think it was a case of resisting but I know what you mean, Sterling would have been the easy option but Rodgers ignored player ages and reputation and judged purely on performance in rightly taking off Borini instead <ok>

I am very impressed by Rodgers too, have been from day one. He speaks honestly but within reason, he does the laundry in private and refuses to speak about opposition players. He treats all the players currently at the club the same and he has a positive attitude. He tries to play the game the way I like and want to see and the video on the other thread shows he holds authority too.

The only thing that annoys me with him is when he is listening to a reporter/question, why does he have to lift his head to an angle where it seems as though he is looking down his nose at people? Makes me want to smack the **** out of him <laugh>

  10. If Gerrard performs like he did yesterday then I have absolutely no problem in him playing every game <ok>

    I agree Dev.

The droopy faced twat never has a good word for the club that put his ugly gob where it is now.<grr>

  13. It annoys me when he makes off cut comments thinking he is funny, Lineker, Hansen, Shearer, etc just sit with a face that says "WTF...?" <doh>

    Very pleased with Brendan too.

We all just needed to see some improvement to settle our nerves - and we have something to build on now.

Think you lot are a bit harsh on Lawro! He is opinionated, but that is his job!

  16. I have no quarrels with Lawro's actual analysis stuff, I just don't like him as a person. See the Gary Neville thread for my views on him, just because I don't like someone doesn't mean I think they are **** at what they do <ok>

Fair enough! I still think Neville is a tosser but can accept he's not too bad a pundit.

  18. I couldn't or can't stand Roy Keane, Gary Neville, Patrice Evra, Wayne Rooney, etc but I still appreciate they were or are very good players. It is only the same thing <ok>

Edit: disliked Evra prior to the Suarez thing which as no influence on my opinion of him <ok>

I am liking the attacking style of play. I think we will do a hell of a lot better this season, provided we can start finishing.

I have a few gripes, playing Suarez as a CF for one, not too sure if BR has a plan B, and I don't think Agger and Big Mart are suited to playing it out from the back.

Feeling more positive now than at any point since Rafa though. Would like to see how Andy C would do with Raheem and Suarez either side of him.

Great start by Brendan. Good positive play and were it not for a calamitous defensive mistake we would have deservedly won. (and many thanks to the owners for appointing BR and getting rid of KD. It is now evident he was not up to the job but many of us fans were too scared or shy to say it because of his legendary status as a player)

Greatly impressed with Sterling, who can only get better. Allen is going to be the midfield lynchpin for years to come. His confidence and poise just amazing.

I think we should be good for a top 4 <ok>
