Not sure whose board i should post this....... http://www.newswales.co.uk/?section=Sport&F=1&id=24119
Really well deserved by our master of arms, and little Leon is third best midfielder according to that article and the vote, we have come far in the last 10 years.
Nice to hear him get recognition from his fellow managers, top bloke and he will be in the swans hall of fame for generations to come at this rate.
Also , Leon Britton polled as the 3rd best Premier midfield behind only Toure & Siva from Man City ... CONGRATS TO NEON LEON !!!
Leon for England .... if he's ranked the third best behind two foreign players, then he is the top English player .... no!
Here's a link to the same story in the Guardian: http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/blog/2012/mar/14/brendan-rodgers-premier-league-managers-survey
Brilliant news about Buck and Leon, but is anybody else surprised to not see Vorm in there? Friedel and Given are.
I was a bit surprised that Vorm wasn't in the best keepers section and also he should have been in best buy's of the season.
I'm a bit more overwhelmed with joy with Britton's placement in the poll than Rodgers , although overjoyed for Rodgers also . You could expect Rodgers to be at least in the running , out of 20 managers . But Leon finishing 3rd out of I don't know how many midfielders , behind only Toure' & Silva , in the eyes of the Premier League managers is absolutely stunning . Like Yankee said " Best in England "
Would you prefer we weren't successful then? Hang on, don't answer that...... Nothing you can do about it. You either do well and get suitors or you are poor and get relegated. Simple. We also came 4th in the question 'which other team do you enjoy watching?' Very surprised at Vorm though. I don't think he's reached the level of Hart or Friedel but imo he's as good as Given and better than Reina.
In the top manager's eyes I'm guessing that they don't rate Vorm that highly because without doubt he is vulnerable in the air and does not command his box - an essential at the top level. There's no question, imo, that Vorm is one of the best shot stoppers in the game - if not the best - but I have to admit that whenever the ball is launched into our penalty area, my heart misses a beat. Had he been two inches taller and better able to deal with the high balls, I'm sure that he would have rated pretty near the top because the rest of his game is first class. We could benefit from this, though. The indications are that the top managers don't rate him that highly - at the moment - so the prospect of him leaving diminishes accordingly because he won't move to a middle placed club unless he is offered absolutely silly money. Our gain, their loss because he's been great for us. But I would like to see a lot of work put in on his dealing with the high ball.
leon has proved me wrong this season and im so glad, i thought he would be to light weight to cope in the premiership, he has been outstanding and deserves his mention, vorm is a bit of a surprise not to be in the top 6 with 10 clean sheets this season, i think he is better than some of the keepers mentioned by a mile and it wont surprise me if someone will try to get him off us in the summer, Infact there must be half a dozen players on other teams wish list for next season. It's going to be an interesting summer for swansea city thats for sure......
There might be a few people that weren't surprised by Britton's " Claim to Fame " season super , but not many .
Take your point about Vorm, ivor. He failed terribly on the cross for Richards' non-goal. A real howler had the goal stood. Still think he's a better shot stopper than most though. You're right - if he got the high balls right he'd be number one in the Prem no doubt. He's better at it than Flapper de Vries though.
