Not sure if anyone has talk sport on but Huw Jenkins is being interviewed.

They have agreement with Liverpool and Brendan that they can't sign any of our players for 12 months.

He is still hopeful of signing Siggi as well next week.

Well done Huw what a legend!!

I think he implied it, but it is Huw that has come out and said it is written into the contract this time (lessons learned) :)

I thought it sounded quite positive. The fact that he mentioned a new manager in the next couple of weeks is evident that Jones isn't the only target. I thought he was a bit evasive about Sigerdson though, saying that it hasn't been tied up yet because he went off on holiday. I don't believe that for a second I'm sorry

But if another club makes an offer for a player then I'm sure Liverpool would be allowed to offer more and take the player. It's just common sense. BR probably knows other clubs will bid and then that would allow Liverpool to bid. I think this is what RM did. So it helps a little but not a lot.

Surely, once Rodgers has left Swansea, what it is in his contract with Swansea then becomes irrelevant/redundant as his only legally-binding contract will be with Liverpool. So I can't see it being anything more than a 'gentleman's agreement'. But I could be completely wrong.

I would guess we can sue Liverpool for breach of contract and perhaps there would be enforceable league sanctions...

Contact clauses can still have an effect even after the person has left. Or it could be a new contract between Liverpool, Swans & BR as part of the compensation package. I'm sure it's legally binding. There are lots of similar types of contracts around. e.g. non-compete for a few years if you sell a business.

The contact doesn't no become irrelevant or redundant if it places obligations on BR after he has left.

Or maybe they don't want any of our players, so not an issue.

<applause>. We've already poached your manager so think it would be ****ing insulting/disrespectful to go back and start nicking players too, so good news.

No1ss, since my original post it looks like it's a written clause in a compensation agreement, so it means they can't come in for Swansea players for 12 months. <ok>

He could still go for Sigurdsson or Caulker of course, if he wished.

<doh> you are off your head mate, there is an agreement between the clubs, it will be abided too! This is something that Huw wanted in place in writing before it proceeded on ! To suggest that it's a gentlemans agreement is ludicrous as its a contract that is drawn up by any savvy club losing a manager, meaning that it's a binding agreement not a gentlemans handshake !
