Being a student with far too much time on my hands, I watch a fair bit of continental football so I just thought I'd share some info on the 2 big sides we're fortunate enough to have visiting SMS.

    Bilbao:

    Key man: Fernando Llorente

6"5 target man with great feet and an impressive finisher. Frequently in the Spain squad with the likesa of Villa and Torres so his pedigree is obvious. Scored 19 times last season and at such a high level that's bloody impressive!

    Young talent: Javi Martinez

For any of you who watched him captain Spain to glory in the u.21s tournament, you'll know that this guy is quality. Touted in Spain as the next holding midfielder for the international side (although Busquets is hardly an old man), he also has great vision and the ability to spot and execute the killer ball. Already a regular in the Spanish squad, expect to see big things from this 6"3 allrounder in years to come.

    Bremen

    Key Man: Tim Borowski

Thought to be the new Michael Ballack, Borowski was Germany's first choice to fill his void before his ex teamate, Mesut Ozil took the position. He cuts an imposing figure at 6"4 and is known for his vision and great number of assists. He is enjoying a return to Bremen after a year at Bayern which didn't go as planned. A player of the highest calibre.

    Young talent: Marko Marin

One of Germany;s most exciting talents and the embodiment of their new, young and flamboyant style of play in the national team. Bought by Bremen for £8m in 2009, Marin played 2 games in the 2010 world cup for Germany and is very much a part of future plans.

Bilbao finished 6th last season, but just 4 points off Villareal in 4th whilst Bremen finished a disappointing 13th after a poor start.

Just a taster for you to appreicate the sort of talent we're up against. Exciting times for the club!

On paper Bremen have a physically strong team with quality players (most of them playing for their country too). Bilbao will be a good passing side I would imagine and if Llorente plays then he will be a handful upfront.

    Can't wait!

anyone know how many tickets have gone? the article on the OS suggests that they havent sold that many, which would surprise me. hopefully there will be a good crowd, surely lots of people are feeling a bit football deprived and will want to go!!!
