The problem with these last minute signings is that we end up panic buying. Apart from that fact we also do not give the players enough time to gel. Look at the beginning of last season we were dire and struggling.
This term we are back earlier and facing European opposition. TP needs to get some new blood in and quick. Also the deadwood needs shipping out too.
Coates is always looking for the bargain basement player. Come on Tone show us the 3 year plan and get your thumb from up yer ass!

Wycombe fan in peace. Good luck for the new season potters. Stoke are my PL team coz my Dad is from there. In a football world dominated by the Chelski, the Yank Mancs and Arse - nal, its still worth paying my Sky subscriptions to see Stoke out-footballing and out-muscling other teams supposedley bigger than them. And dont listen to the critics, give me Stokes open play ahead of Chelsea's 4-5-1 crap anyday.

    Cheers

    Cheers devonblue!
On that note though - When Stoke played Chelsea at the Brittania stadium towards the end of last season when we drew 1-1. I was amazed at how much Chelsea actually played the long ball tactic. Every other move came from Petr Cech hoofing it up field. Chelsea have some top players but they defo played more long ball that day than us!

Course Coates is always looking for the bargain basement player, why do you think he has got so much cash? Im not optimistic about getting anyone half decent in, the amount of cash flowing about at the moment is stupid. The 'bigger' clubs can afford to spend ridiculous amounts and thats going to have a massive knock on effect on all the market. Players who were worth 1.5 mill last year are probably being priced at 4 mill this time, Modric is a fine example, 25 mill my arse, hes a very good player but 15 mill tops!!! Moneys killing the game fellas.

Agreed Dame - £20 mill for Henderson and £17 mill for Jones.

    Crazy

We don't have to buy big money signings, why not give some of the lower league players a try that can play a bit. Look at Walters and what a signing he was. He was a relative unknown before this season and now a premier league regular starter. We were linked with the Peterborough striker that netted 35 goals last season but I've heard nothing since!
It's not just about bringing in quality though it's also about getting some of the hangers on off the big pay roll!
