http://www.bcfc.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10327~2554823,00.html There we have it, hes gone, soon to be no more a city player, possibly his last game will be against southampton and we might never see him play at ashton gate again!!! thanks maynard for your services but you should of asked for a move in august when we could of got a player and 6 million good luck with your premier league ambition im sure you can make it, top player
A sad day. But hey, life goes on. We will now need to see commitment yet again from our directors (SL!) to bring in fresh talent. The slate must be clean for Del to create a team in his own image... But hang on to Albert
Be interesting to see what derisory offers we get for him and from who. Crewe are also owed a sell-on percentage of whatever fee we get. The crazy amount of money Leicester offered us seems a long time ago now. We shouldn't have bitten their hands and arms off.
Any ongoing percentage to Crewe would be above the £2.25m if we should receive that. (which we wont!) Yes we should have took The Leicester money but if he wont go there? Time for Pitman now.
If Maynard didn't want to sign then he should have said so earlier, because now we're going to get nowhere near what Leicester were originally offering. Hell, if he had signed a contract last year we could have still sold him, but for a lot more money. Frankly, Maynard should have already played his last game for us, and I hope we treat this in the same way that GJ treated Basso when he wanted out. I think we'll get £2M for him, tops. We're forced to sell and people will take advantage, so I think we'd do a lot better by swapping him for a Premier League quality striker on his way out or a youngster from a top academy that's got no first-team future.
His 7 league goals this season have cost you 6m and the chance to get a decent defence. Sorry, but this is just tragic
Only tragic because he didn't want to move to a hole like Leicester ? Then again who does want to live in Leicester ??? For not moving for that reason alone that I can't blame anyone.
I have to agree with most of what's been said already, If NM had any feelings of loyalty to the club that saw him through his injury, then he would have slapped in a transfer request much earlier. Can only place him in the same sort of category as most of those other money grabbing footballers that seem to be around nowadays. A years contract with some form of clause may have given him the opportunity to bang in a hatfull of goals and maybe get a transfer to a good prem side (and us some money in the deal) now he will probably end up at a poor prem side who may well get relegated. Should we have sold him to Leicester? Probably yes but hindsight is a wonderful thing innit?
Bristol City did not turn down the last bid from Leicester City,we held the option open, offered it to Maynard and he turned them down because he felt it did not fulfill his personal ambitions,he wants gauranteed Premier football.. He has given us good service,we did look after him when he suffered his serious injury,we survived without him that season, instead of hanging on to the end of the season he has declared his hand and we've got the chance of some monies to come back. Our manager was only saying 2 or 3 days ago we need new striking options,do you think he was trying to tell us all something, the players are there to replace him with possible additions,no panic. Nicky is a great guy and thanks for all the goals but sorry the club is bigger than the man, time for him to move on and for us to move up,remember Pitman,Stead,Clarkson,Taylor and Jackson, they are still with us,fighting the cause and possibly more to come. Up the City....
To be honest i am glad hes ****ing off i think this season has been to much about maynards contract, and its a unwanted distraction he aint even really done alot on the pitch for us
I put this in capitals and make it bold just so you understand. MAYNARD WAS THE ONE WHO DIDN'T WANT TO GO TO YOU, NO MATTER HOW MUCH YOU OFFERED.
If he accepted us then you'd be 6m better off which would have gone to buying a capable defence, hardly rocket science.
