Owner Shahid Khan said: "No one can ever doubt the effort and commitment that Kit put into Fulham, not only as first-team manager, but also as a player here, and as a key figure in the success of our academy. "Kit came through for us last year at this time and helped stabilise our club on and off the pitch, and we're very grateful for that and his many other contributions over the years." Source: http://www.skysports.com/football/news/11681/10061014/fulham-sack-manager-kit-symons Ironically Kit was given the job permanently after a 5-2 home defeat and he's gone after a 5-2 home defeat. No replacement announced so presumably Curbs in charge for now. Moyes anyone?
The bookies already have a market open on our next manager. Tim Sherwood and Nigel Pearson the early favs.
Having had a look through the list of managers that the bookies have priced up, can't say that any of them are really sticking out to me. I suppose a good argument could be made for Nigel Pearson though, considering he did get Leicester promoted and then kept them up last season after having quite a bad start and being bottom at christmas, something that isn't done very often. It depends what route the club want to take here, do we go for a well established manager with plenty of experience or do we take a punt on potential, a young up and coming manager. A name that springs to mind for me would be Karl Robinson at Mk Dons, to be honest I think he's took them as far as they can go, think he'd be worth a chance.
Not really a shock to wake up to this news but please please not Sherwood!!!! Pearson on the pitch has done well and knows the championship but just comes across as a bit of a strange arrogant person!
Well he had more than a fair chance. Was very disappointed yesterday with such a good squad. I'll like Moyes if he would come and I think Lambert is worth a think about who had an impossible job at Villa. We shall see.
Hola, guys. Since moving out to Sevilla with the Señora at the start of the year, I have only seen Fulham play once - Reading a couple of weeks ago, when I was over visiting my son. I don't really get reports on them in Spain and talking to people at the ground they said we hadn't managed to play a good full match for a long while so I am not surprised Kit has gone given the money he was allowed to spend and what the club wanted in terms of league position. As for David Moyes, well, he is in trouble out here. Real Sociedad are 16th in the league, aren't playing well and lost 2-0 on Friday to Las Palmas who were bottom of the league. The fans have been chanting for him to go back home. Much as I would love him to manage Fulham I can't see it. Even if we could afford his wages we don't have the profile he would want. Lambert might be a decent shout. I think he had to manage Villa with one hand tied behind his back, trouble is Villa were very negative under him and I wouldn't want that sort of football for Fulham. Pearson is a strange man and I personally don't like him or the way he deals with the media (and fans). What about Warburton from Rangers?
Let's show some ambition Brendon Rogers or Moyes. Jose might be available soon and he wouldn't need to move!
Must say sad for KS but enthusiasm and loyalty are no substitute for ability. 1st choice = Moyes 2nd choice = Lambert. But whoever whatever lets get it right this time.
Like a shot, I'd take the bookies' favourite, but none of these other five Steve Bruce 5/4 Nigel Pearson 4/1 Paul Lambert 8/1 Gus Poyet 12/1 Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink 12/1 Tim Sherwood 12/1 Or I'd take Laudrup!
To be honest Imbelieve we have a good squad for this division, Imbelieve we have a bit of quality and creativity in the team and will always score goals, we just need a manager who will get the shape and tempo of the team right and organised. Looking at thee above names Bruce, Pearson and lambert would probably fig what we need the most but the football fan in says Poyet would be more entertaining.
Not nice to hear, I liked Kit, but he had a fair crack and it was time for a change. Interested to see who our next boss will be...
Lambert for me, as I said earlier today on another thread. Laudrup could be good, as would Moyes or Rodgers, but I doubt that either of them would drop down to the Championship. I've never really rated Sherwood, and unlike Lambert (and, I think, Rodgers) he has no track record in winning promotions as a manager. Pearson alienated a lot of Leicester fans long before their late revival last season. He doesn't feel very Fulhamish to me. One other name to throw in: Nigel Clough anyone?
It looked inevitable after yesterday's game and not surprised to see this today. A shame as I wanted it to work for Kit and our club. We now need the right man to move us on at whatever cost that requires. Then pray England don't tap him up, this time! COYW's
Sorry but I couldn't resist this please log in to view this image Hear No Evil---Speak No Evil---See No Evil---- The photo they put out announcing Kit Symons departure.
I guess the best legacy that Symons has left, is the new manager will have the players to work with who should be good enough to create a team that can challenge. It has been said by Khan that Rigg is in charge of recruiting the new manager, having seen a photo of Rigg standing next to a tactics board, I wonder if he is a frustrated Wanna-be-Football-Manager. I'm hoping he follows the MAF example (Keegan) of getting in a name (not Redknapp) just to spark this club back into life. Whether that will work who knows.
Following up on the Fulhaman post – welcome back by the way and best wishes on your re-location – and hello again to Bidley as well. The BBC, along with others, are reporting that Moyes is all but sacked http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/34755987 Also, when checking the Official site I see that all Kit’s backroom people have been removed. Billy McKinlay, who of course was with us from 2007 until he left with Jol in 2013, is currently working with Moyes at Real Sociedad. Coincidence or am I just clutching at straws?
Sad but inevitable. I really wanted Kit to do well but he just didn't have what it takes. I wish him the best of luck. Pearson for me is not Fulhamish at all. I'd be disappointed if he came in. As for the others, well, they've all got experience but I just don't know. Whoever said Laudrup was a good shout, I agree. I hope we show some intent, some vision with the appointment.
