Harry Redknapp has quit as manager of QPR... Because of "knee operation" http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/31117098
Maybe. But doing bugger all in the transfer window, then leaving the day after it shuts is nothing short of brilliant.
He's bottled it. Our Nige has had knee ops, you don't go from being "up for it" to resignation in 10 hours because your knees gone. He couldn't get the players he wanted. Simple. He's copped out.
Gutted! He was trying to sign players at 11pm last night & by 5.30am today a surprise knee op forces him to quit, yeah, right. His toys are out of the pram.
Didn't Nigel also spend a bit of time in hospital with a heart problem while at Hull and still continued? This is what assistants are for!
He reckons he'll be out of action for 3 months (6 weeks minimum a knee and you can't have both done at once apparently) and he was out of contract in the summer. Since he won't be back before the last 2 or 3 games he might as well let his replacement have the job now, or his assistant have the full salary. That is of course just explaining why his made up cover story is plausible even though nobody will be taken in by it.
We;ll have to got used to him being in the pundits chair from now on - doubt anyone but Portsmouth would want him and they would need to have a massive whip around to pay for the bunch of overpaid 30+ year olds he always seems to buy.
But it's not like he tripped and did his knee's in at 5am the day after the window closed. He's known about it for ages, so why wait until now, until the window shut? Would be fuming if I was a Dramas fan...
He realised he was taking them back down and didn't want another relegation on his CV. A massive over rated manager who only real claim to glory is Portsmouth but look what happened to them in the end
I reckon we can probably put it down to Queenie. He's obviously had a quiet word in Arry's shell-like. I'll be gutted if he doesn't pop along shortly with one of his classic anagram/typo posts on this.
Prepare to be gutted then. (said in a casual rather than menacing way) He's banned from their forum, so it automatically extends to the full site.
No idea off the top of my head, possibly just a racking up of smaller things, it's quite structured on there what bans etc are applied for different things. The extension to a full site ban is just a default thing that happens if anybody from any forum is banned from their own team's board.
This site won't be the same without him. Maybe he'll be reincarnated under another handle. Here's hoping.
... a little harsh Proud ... he managed Bournemouth to promotion in his first magerial role (and with an FA Cup win over Manchester United thrown in) managed West Ham to their highest ever top flight position whilst bringing through young players such as Joe Cole, Rio Ferdinand, Michael Carrick and Frank Lampard, won an FA Cup for Portsmouth and took Spurs from a relegation place to their first Champions League campaign within the space of 2 seasons ... he also got QPR promoted, albeit via the play-offs ... the only place where he didn't 'achieve' was that brief spell at Southampton ... ... that's a record that stands up to any other British manager of the last 20 years, with the obvious exception of Sir Alex Ferguson ...
