Absolutely ridiculous badge. I'd imagine West Yorkshire is going crazy at the moment. Or, have I overslept and it's actually the 1st April?
They have scrapped it now. 50,000 signatures on a petition in four hours, and three major sponsors saying if it stays we go. Grovelling apologies on radio Leeds from the director responsible. God knows how much it will cost to settle with kappa they will want paying for any merchandise ordered.
Somebody on the radio said it looks like an NFL franchise badge. A lot of the new Rugby Club badges are in this style too I believe. This kind of simplifying (dumbing down) has gone too far I think. Reduction of everything visual to cartoon clipart. The new Premier League Lion emblem is an example of this, and there are too many others to count. Computer operating systems as well. Every new version looks like it has been re-styled simply to appeal to kids. Dull mono-coloured icons, casual slang terms used instead of standard wording of information. Bloody emojis everywhere. I think Western society is regressing into some kind of second childhood. People can now go through their lives pretending to be white collar office based professionals without knowing how to do simple arithmetic, how to spell properly or even read properly. It won't be long before you won't need to be able to drive to commute by car, never mind understand the basics of how a car works. That new Leeds badge is not even pop art. In my opinion it's crap, and if I was a Leeds fan I would not be pleased about it. Were Leeds fans consulted before this was done? EDIT: I'm pleased to hear it has been scrapped. As mentioned before, I think this kind of infantile reduction of emblems that mean a lot to people is just stupid.
