    <laugh> Ya see I would say crust,but a Scottish mate uses the word heel. Anyone else heard that one?

    the crust is the bit around the sides of a normal price of bread.

    I guess he doesn't get the "end" so I wonder if he understands middle ? <whistle>

    So if they call the end or heel the crust, what do they call the middle bits? <laugh>

    I thought this was going to be about the sitcom set in Liverpool in the late 80's.

    The two ends of the loaf are the crusts.

    The whole of the outside is the crust, hence making posh sarnies and cutting the crusts off - so why call the end slices which are all crust, anything other than 'crust'.
