For me a bap is a soft roll not unlike a burger bun.

 

For me a bap is not something you have for lunch, unless you are 2 months old.

Thought it'd be you funnily enough as it's only people from East Midlands who I've heard say it.

 

Indeed ... I grew up with cobs but my dad was born in Manchester and my mum near Blackburn so we also had barm cakes in the vocabulary ... my Grandma, also from the North West, used to bake something we all called "Sad Cake" (probably should have put this on the pudding thread) which was fookin lovely ... it was like a flat pastry filled with currants, raisins and sultanas and baked so that the sugar in it caramelised on the top like toffee ... us kids used to love it!
