According to The Sun, Bradley Johnson could be about to get an international call up. I was surprised but would like to be the first to wish him good luck, he always tried for Leeds and apart from the wild shots I can not fault him. I think if he makes it, it just shows that what Leeds United can do for a player who gives 100%. http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepag...armarked-for-Englands-trip-to-Montenegro.html
We were still right to get rid of him. Our midfield was awful and he was one of the main culprits for poor tackles, unintelligent passing straight to the opposition and stupid shots. Maybe the Norwich training staff are a lot better or he's suddenly more confident now he's made the step up. But I'd rather have Adam Clayton any day of the week, as they say.
Shows what a muppet bates is good enough for England not good enough for a new Leeds contract. Personally I am amazed they are talking of England and Johnson in the same breathe but good luck to him
Not really I think it shows what a lack of midfielders (English) in this country.. Because that is scrapping bottom of the barrel to be fair... Decent enough player - World class I think not I wouldn't even say premiership class... Good luck to him though
Might find this hard to believe, givne that ManUre have a few decent midfielders, as do ManUre City. There's also Scott Parker, who isn't too shabby. That said, if he gets his chance, good luck to him
I've heard he's improved that much Barca want to do a swap deal with Xavi & Iniesta heading to Carrow Road
I'd considerably prefer either howson or clayton in my team and im gonna guess most people here do as well. So Fabio, why not give the chance to someone who is considerably better in every way possible and younger???
No please don't even look at ANY Leeds players. The minute one pulled an England shirt on bates eyes would light up £ signs the agent would demand a contract suitable for an England international and we would lose them for a quarter of their value
Those that are mocking this, carry on mocking. I also recall many Leeds fans laughing at us for taking him. The fact is he has performed superbly well this season for Norwich. Yes his shooting is still not very good but everything else he does is excellent. Any squad place he gets with England, will be thoroughly deserved
Listen TOWIE... er sorry LiE, I thought the idea of Bradders as an England international was funny on its own without Essex Man chipping in!! That said, if he does indeed get a call up, where does that leave all the others I referred to above, along with Gerrard who isn't even in the squad (probably still getting back to full fitness though)
Thai, I think you've got yourselves a bargain there. Would be interested to learn just how much more you're paying him than we did or were prepared to offer him. I wouldn't sit behind a goal to watch him.... or rather I would, as right behind the goal with the netting as protection is probably the safest place to be. I wouldn't, however, sit above the goal line. Definitely not a place to sit with his shooting. That said, the rest of his game is quite impressive. Still a bone of contention that we let him go. But at least & for the moment, he's bettered himself.... unlike Kilkenny!!!
Thai, I think you've got yourselves a bargain there - Would have to agree 100% on what he has shown so far. Would be interested to learn just how much more you're paying him than we did or were prepared to offer him Cannot answer that but it would not be a large amount in PL terms. I wouldn't sit behind a goal to watch him.... or rather I would - Again, agreed. By far the safest place to be
Bradders is decent, but even on his very best displays he was never England standard. Clayton is head and shoulders above him in every respect bar heading. This would have been impossible unless Johnson's suddenly become a 10x better passer, tackler and shooter.
Might be worth remembering that Paul Lambert hand picked players from League 1 last season and turned them in to very good Championship players, and most of them are now becoming decent PL players. I do not know what PL is doing to these players but he seems to have an uncanny knack of getting hold of 'average' players and making them so much better and far more confident. BJ's tackling, passing and heading have all improved no end since his move and he is oozing confidence and like the rest of our team, shows no fear of any opponent he faces.
But I still don't think he has the basic ability to ever be good enough, no matter how well he's playing or how confident he is. I will just never see him as an England standard player, if you know what I mean?
I was giving it some more thought when I was just now having a shower. Yes, I understand what you are saying and there is every chance if he does get a full cap he might even be like a rabbit caught in headlights! I cannot comment on what he was like at Leeds as I never saw him play but happy enough to take your honest opinion. I can only judge him based on 7 games and it all looks good but not the complete package because of his shooting ability (or lack of), perhaps that will come in time too
