Seeing one guy walking along the touch line on fire. And the emotion in the voice of the commentator watching him. Just horrendous.
The awful event was compounded by no clear evacuation /escape routes - just mass confusion - in hindsight I think fire escape procedures improved in all grounds as a result of this disaster - I was f&b warden and used this film for a presentation at work - lessons learned all round
Was it Grandstand or World of Sport showed it. I honestly thought initially it was just rubbish burning beneath the seating etc. Like you say tho it was horrific.
I thought we only remembered Liverpool fans that died at hillsborough? Was there another football related disaster? Sad isn't it that it gets almost no press. Yet hillsborough, which was, certainly in some part, some fans faults (among others) gets press from everywhere. Tiny fire as it started. Took no time at all to take hold of that stadium
