please log in to view this image Sunderland travel to West Yorkshire to face Bradford City in a pre-season friendly. Last time out Sunderland beat Blackpool and Bradford beat Austrian side SV Ried II. Sunderland will play two consecutive games at Valley parade, starting with the hosts Bradford City on Tuesday and followed by a game with Olympic Marseille on Saturday. Regis Le Bris is expected to make wide scale changes to give the rest of the squad a chance to complete 90 minutes. Ian Poveda has only had a few days with his new team mates but could be included in the squad. Bradford City came from behind to ensure a pre-season win for the first team, as they beat Austrian opponents SV Ried II 2-1 in Obertraun last Tuesday. Vadaine Oliver’s late winner sealed victory for City, with Andy Cook drawing Graham Alexander’s men level after Steinmann Roman had given the hosts a surprise early lead. The Bantams host Sunderland at Valley Parade and visit Altrincham before the competitive action gets going. Regis le Bris: " It was a hard game because we needed to unbalance a compact defence with a back five so it wasn't easy to solve this problem and I think it would be one of our main problems at home for example during this season so the energy was good but the way we solved this problem wasn't really achieved, We need to work on it to analyze the videos and the different clips we can use to improve this part of our game.” “He (Aji Alese) felt a pain on his thigh, so we decided to not take a risk with him. It will be a different team so for the whole group I think we share the idea we want to develop, I say that it's a second team but it's just another part of the group with the same ideas. Another problem with another team so we'll see and I hope we will be able to make another step forward.” Graham Alexander: “It was a tough game for us, after a tough week for the players. “Tactically, they caused us a lot of problems, especially in the first half, but then we adjusted our press to stop that flow through their midfield, and we gradually grew into the game better. “The goal we conceded from the first attack was a disappointment, but we grew into the game and made substitutions, including ones we had planned, like Calum Kavanagh and Brad Halliday. “We are really pleased we have got through the full week with everyone available to train when we get back to England. Match Appointments: No idea Team Lineups: Sunderland AFC: (4-3-3) Moore, Anderson, Johnson, Hjelde, Bennette, Matete, Rigg, Aouchiche, Mundle, Rusyn, Ba. Subs from: Chibueze, O'Nien, Browne, Embleton, Hemir, Watson, Triantis, Poveda, Pembele Injured: Ballard, Huggins, Seelt, Ekwah. Injured: None My two pence: After RLB’s post-match interview I’m expecting a totally different team to the one that played on Saturday, hopefully we get a chance to see Poveda and I’d like to see some of the youngsters given an opportunity – especially Watson, Hemir and Bennette. I’m not sure if Triantis or Embleton are fit to play either so will have to wait for some team news. I’m going for a 2-1 away win. Live Stream: https://www.safc.com/live Ha’way the Lads
Le Bris seems to be giving everyone a fresh start, it's up to the players to make an impression. You could see the players trying to implement the plan at Blackpool but it didn't quite come off. The ball needs to move quicker and forwards rather than back. Aouchiche, Rigg and Ba always want to take the ball towards the goal so I hope they're all on the pitch together.
I think if we can move the ball a bit quicker in the middle third that will be the key to this season. We pressed fairly high but maybe not with as much intensity as we can, it is pre season so not too worried I just hope ot is a sign of a more structured press and of more attacking intent than we showed last year. I really don't expect us to get up to full speed until about 7 or 8 games in, but sometimes with teams it just starts to click and again I am hopeful that this happens. New coach, new ideas, new players. HWTL.
From the Echo Luis Hemir, Jewison Bennette and Jay Matete weren’t named in the squad and instead played for Sunderland’s under-21s side against Hartlepool at Victoria Park. Le Bris later confirmed the trio are free to look for loan moves this summer. Doubtful Ekwah, Triantis, Hjelde, Alese
0-2 Poveda comes on and scores 2, hope the sodden stream works i have paid twice already apparently, what a shambles.
What browser do you use Monty? I can't get our streams on Google. I used another browser, Microsoft Edge or Firefox I think, and had no problems since
Top Thread again RTB Going for an away win , and Rusyn to get on the scoresheet , more in hope than expectation. I thought Hemir might have been given another chance in this game to show us what he can bring to the table , but reading between the lines it seems not, strange one considering our lack of competition up front. Still like to see what Mundle can do in a more central position , maybe in a 3/5/2 which imo could well suit us here. OaU
Be interesting to see how the second string perform and implement the same style as RLB wants for the first time. Need Rusyn to have a good game.
Moore Pembele Johnson Hjelde Anderson Rigg Ekwah Aouchiche Ba Rusyn Mundle Ba and Poveda to get 45 each considering first pre season game for both.
I think this is close to the team selection to start the game It wont happen but this is how I would like to see your team line up Moore Johnson Hielde Anderson Pembele Aouchiche Rigg Ekwah Ba Mundle Rusyn I would like to see Bennette used at some stage as a left wing back, replacing any of Ba, Mundle or Rusyn if they are not cutting the mustard .
Abroad, Internet not good for streaming so will keep an eye on here for updates... Hhhaaa'wwwwaaaaayyyyyy the lads
