I was thinking we're coming to the end of the season and was wondering who would make the BPL starting XI this season.

    My team:

GK: De Gea - Much improved from last season and has proved his worth by helping United top the table. His competitors have been inconsistent, the likes of Hart, Cech and Reina haven't been at the same standard we have seen in previous seasons.

RB: Zableta - Has been City's best player in my opinion this season and has the quality to keep out Maicon and Richards from the City team. Reither from Fulham has also been good as has our Clyne but not to the same standard at Zableta.

CB: Ferdinand - As much as I hate him, he has been United's rock at the back and fully deserves his place in my TOTY. I thought about Kompany and Vermaelen but sometimes the two Belgians haven't been at their best.

CB: Vertonghen - Can play a variety of positions and has proved himself useful at the attacking end of the pitch this season chipping in with 7 goals in all competitions. As above I feel Ferdinand and Vertonghan have been better this season so far.

LB: Baines - Just seems to get better and better, I feel he deserves to be England's first choice. Provides so many assists and gets vitals goals on top of that. Cole has had a decent season but Baines has had a better one.

RM: Mata - Same as last season, Mata has proved his worth for the west London club. He has a tremendous amount of assists and provides a fair few goals. It was very close between him and Walcott for RM but his overall play was much better.

CM: Fellaini - Been one of the reasons that Everton are up there this season and his goals have pushed them there. Could have put in his CM partner Osman but Fellaini has been a different class so far this season.

CM: Cazorla - This lad has been terrific since his move from Malaga and has settled straight away. I could have put in Toure or Lampard but Cazorla has been, along with Walcott, the best player for Arsenal and has played the majority of games unlike the other two.

LM: Bale - Best player in the league in my opinion, he has hit real form recently and could become one of the best players around on current development. Hazard has been a top signing but Bale has been unbelievable this season.

ST Van Persie - Scored for fun in the first half of the season but recently hasn't been able to find the back of the net, but still second top scorer. Michu and Lukaku have been in fine form for their mid-table clubs but are not the same calibre as RVP.

ST: Suarez - Best player for Liverpool and has exceptional talent. His dribbling skills and finishing are arguably the best in the league. Benteke, Lambert and Fletcher have all provided goals for the lower sides but RVP and him have to be in the side.

Find that very hard to argue against although I think I might swap Carzorla with Michu. I also wouldn't have Ferdinand in there but can't think of a decent replacement which shows the standard of CB's this year.

Pretty much agree with that. It hasn't been a great year for goalies, Reina's had a bit of a blip and Hart isn't as good as he was last year, can't think of any better performers than De Gea this season. I'm pretty sure there's at least 2 better CBs than Ferdinand this season (maybe someone like Ivanovic), but glad you didn't put Rafael for RB!

    -------------------Guzan
    Zabaleta---Vertonghen---David Luiz---Baines
    ----------Schneiderlin---Carrick
    Mata--------------Michu------------Bale
    ------------------Suarez

Not a hint of bias in that Schneiderlin selection. The stats speak for themselves. I left out Van Persie because he hasn't had the best 2013. Funny how I only ended up with one United player, but there we go.

    Edit: replaced Coloccini with Luiz.

Similar with goalies; Coloccini's been distracted with 'family problems', Kompany's not been as effective, Vidic is still injury prone, etc.

Yeah, if Morgan doesn't get any recognition, there is serious bias against us...

GK: Jussi Jaskelainan. Very good season for WHU and made some quality saves.

LB: Baines. Got to be Baines. But Shaw does run him close. But Baines has got a brilliant left foot on him and scored some brilliant goals as well.

CB: David Luiz: Much improved season for Luiz, and makes some really good interceptions and lung busting runs forward.

CB: Rio Ferdinand: Big reason why United haven't missed Vidic that much this season. He has been brilliant in the 2nd half of the season in particular.

RB: Rafael: He has impressed me this season. Some very mature performances for his age and scored an absolute rocket against QPR.

    LM: Bale. Pretty obvious why!

CM: Carrick. Great season for United and has really been instrumental in United winning the title this season.

CM: Schneiderlin: Very impressive for Saints this season and player of the season so far for Saints. More of a goal threat too!

RM: Mata. Quality player and the best playmaker in the league for me.

ST: Van Persie: Brilliant forward and a bargain at 20mill. He filled the piece that United were lacking last season

ST: Suarez: Quality player. Really wanted to put Lambert in the team but can't leave out Suarez.

I agree, there is room for Schneiderlin in that team, very much doubt it will happen though, and would be a little relieved if it didn't.

I'd actually be tempted to have Clyne as the best RB, he's done very little wrong and has always performed well, importantly against the top teams.

Good selection Jake the Saint, and good justifications for all of them. Can't really argue with any of it!

So easy to pick players from top Prem Teams or only attacking options. Surely Carrick has to be included in the midfield; very few good centre back seasons this year so I have gone for a 3-5-2...

    Guzan

    Zabaleta
    Baines
    Reid

    Carrick
    Mata
    Ki
    Cazorla
    Bale

    Michu
    van Persie

Subs: Begovic, Shaw, Shawcross, Britton, Yaya Toure, Pienaar, Lambert and Suzarez.

    What about the individual accolades?

Player of the Year: Luis Suarez
Young Player of the Year: Benteke?

    De Gea

    Zabaletta - Vertonghen - Williams - Baines

    Schneiderlin - Carrick

    Cazorla - Mata - Bale

    Van Persie

It would be interesting to see if anyone else would put Schneiderlin in their TOTY or if it's just us who rate him highly

I have been very impressed with his perfomences, he is getting noticed, we swans fans talk about how underated he is.

For me the most underrated player in the EPL is Chico Flores, better than Ashley Williams and a lot of Swansea fans agree, trust me, when you are watching them week in week out chico has been the most impressive.

I think Bale will get Player of the Year. Not sure about the youngsters, but I hope Shaw is in the running. Couldn't argue with Benteke though.

I haven't been particularly impressed with Williams this season, so no arguments there.
