Just seen that we could still bring George Boyd in on loan, if we agree to buy him in January. However this piece from the BBC article about sums us up. "If you look at all the stats, he's in the top five for creating goals in the Championship, he also scores a fair quota, he's been absolutely magnificent for us but the wages he's on, I don't think Ipswich can quite get there" "That was a stumbling block but he is an unbelievable player and if Ipswich did get him, he would be sensational [for them]" Sad days at PR when we can't compete with or match Peterborough on wages given to good players, especially with the wealth of our owner.
He also said that he was on very very very good wages because Peteborough busted a gut to keep him at the club when he signed his contract a few years ago, we've got to be realistic!! Why do u think Peterborough are so keen to get rid and also why his transfer value seems to be low reportedly 250k, because he is on high wages!! I'm fairly optimistic that we will get this done. It's not in a position we are particularly short of players though but if we do sign him it would certainly improve us!!
. I can't believe that some people still think that we have any ambition! Some fans are actually pleased that we got a draw yesterday, we should be beating the likes of Huddersfield at home and yet we just about salvaged a draw! Lose away and draw at home is relegation form and to think that some are actually happy with the way things are going. What will it take for some people to realise that Jewell is taking us down. He has been here for the same period as Keane and some still want to give this clown more time. His lose ratio is worse than Keane FFS!
Bit off track JWM, perhaps you meant to post it on a thread where a town fan says they are happy with how things are going at Town, can't see any so not sure what planet you are on?? Do you think a club who has just signed Paul Taylor for £1.5million has a lack of ambition??
What is a lot for Peterborough should not be a lot for us, so when Fry says that Boyd is on a very good wage that shouldn't mean we can't match it.
He's on a basic wage of £8k I have a good mate who is a Posh fan and knows some of the players. If we are not willing to pay Boyd £10k-£12K a week which is pretty much the going rate for the Championship then we have absolutely no hope of attracting many decent players here! Its all the more galling when you consider the amount of money we were spunking each week on the deadbeat Bullard. Taylo9r was on £4K per week so his wage demands were a lot less.
Weighty you have to take into context the bigger picture! If by drawing and winning the odd game Jewell keeps his job then it just prolongs the agony! If losing means that we finally get rid of the useless knobhhead then its all for the greater good!
Your gullible enough to believe your friend he's on £8000!? haha! He's definitely on more than that. I think we all know that too. I'd imagine he wanted a payrise ( why not your hardly going to want the same wage or less ) and we may have been put off at potentially offering £14,000 or so. While we're on the topic of wages, how much is Chopra likely to be on? Must be around the £15,000 mark.....
it is rather amazing that JWM can post fact wages when it puts the current regime in the bad light. Its has been posted that full details of both Boyd and now Hyams details are known, which I find hard to believe. Even if friends of the players are known its seems highly unlikely that they would make them public knowledge and its funny that, with Hyam especially, it has only now come to light. Oh and putting FACT on the end of a rumour doesnt make it any more reliable On all these kind of details I ignore it because apart from the club, the player and the agent involved and possibly a very close handful of friends I assume everyone is guessing.
