I've just realised something. My mate's a Stevenage fan and in April 2004 he persuaded me to attend Northwich Victoria v Stevenage in the Conference. And in that game George Boyd featured in a 2-1 win for Stevenage scoring the winner in the 82nd minute. The attendance was 487. No real point to this thread except I recall my mate raving about Boyd back then and claiming he was destined to play at a much higher level. A bit weird that he's now playing for City yet I watched him back then in a crowd of under 500, (and have only just remembered).
A colleague of mine at our Chelmsford branch, his son played with Boyd at Stevenage and he was a guest at Crystal palace in the directors box , he always said Boyd was a decent player and would get on well.
