Read this: http://football-talk.co.uk/42897/th...r-arsenal-ace-looking-to-eclipse-gareth-bale/ What is all this bull about A rise to fame at Arsenal? He was famous before he ever signed for them.
Rise to fame? With respect, he's scored against a League Two side, a very weak looking Olympiakos and has done well against a joke national U21 side. Impressive but a rise to fame my arse. Let's not forget Theo Walcott even scored a hat trick against a respected full national side, and he's still crap.
To be honest, StG, that's one of the more balanced articles I've read about OXO's rise to prominence. You have to accept that OXO progressed to a world stage when he was transferred to Arsenal. It's a point I touched on in another thread. When you want to find out news of Saints on a national sport website, such as SKY or the BBC, you have to face mountains of ManU, or Arsenal rubbish before you click through to the stuff you want. Not many teams are up there in that media clamouring cliche - probably just 4 or maybe 6. Arsenal are still in the 4 as far as the news media is concerned. Saints will get there, if Cortese is allowed to have his way. And then we'll effortlessly keep the OXO's and other starlets.
To be fair, that article is very respectful of his achievements at Saints. We all know he obviously hasn't become a much better player overnight, but L1 is off the radar for most Premier League and Championship fans, us incuded now that we're up. The reality is that the media are taking notice now that he plays for Arsenal, hence the fame bit. Fame is no indicator of quality, just look at the England team!
I seriously hope Arsenal have a massive downfall!! Hope all their beat players leave Arsenal have just pinched other young players from other clubs and then the media make a big deal saying how Arsenal have made them the next big thing! Pathetic!
Shame about the article but I agree with the above comments - the reason for the sudden interest in Chamberlain is because he plays for a Premiership club and the Premiership is far more in the media spotlight than the lower leagues
