QPR host Swansea City at Loftus Road tonight (Wednesday) and Mark Bowen has praised the recent support the team have received from the R's fans.

After roaring the team on to a sensational comeback against Liverpool, the home support was at its vocal best during Rangers' 2-1 win against Arsenal, and Mark Hughes's No.2 told www.qpr.co.uk: "As staff we have spoken about it and we have been delighted with them.

"From when we first arrived there was a big expectation and for a number of reasons it didn't go the way everyone was expecting.

"But since the Liverpool game there has been a real up-swell in how the fans have been.

"They were very good before but certainly since Liverpool there's been an up-swell.

"And they are a knowledgeable crowd - they showed that against Manchester United.

"They were obviously gutted we got beat but they looked at it and could see what had gone on, and they knew 2-0 wasn't that bad.

"It is nice for the Manager and coaches to know that you have got knowledgeable fans. Yes, they want to be entertained but they can see the bigger picture as well."

And it was looking at the bigger picture which led to Joey Barton and Bobby Zamora not featuring at Old Trafford. The R's skipper wasn't involved at all, while Zamora was an unused sub.

"With Joey being one booking away from a two-match suspension it was the right thing to do to take him out of it," Bowen said.

"Bobby hasn't been too well recently and even though he would have put himself forward to play at Old Trafford, having done that you would be worried about how he would be physically for tonight.

"It was the right call in my mind to keep him fresh and raring to go for this game."

Zamora played a big part in Rangers' recent win over the Gunners and is expected to resume his duties as the lone striker tonight.

"He is used to that role," Bowen added. "Against Arsenal I thought he destroyed their centre-halves with the way he played for the whole time he was on the pitch. He is the key for us."

There are now only three home games remaining and Bowen believes the R's should be confident about performing on their own patch.

"The home fixtures are very important and you can look at them right back to the moment we arrived," he said.

"We beat Wigan and then the two after that were Wolves and Fulham where we had men sent off early on but still performed admirably.

"And against Everton, Liverpool and Arsenal we picked up seven points so certainly our home form has been fantastic as of late. We can take great confidence from that going into the match tonight."

QPR welcome a Swansea side who have received plaudits aplenty for the way they have adapted to life in the Premier League, but Bowen believes Rangers can draw confidence from our recent success over the Gunners.

"Everyone knows how Swansea play," he said. "They are neat, tidy, a good footballing side with lots of passing and lots of possession.

"In the way they play, they are not a lot different to Arsenal.

"We will approach the game tonight in the same fashion we approached the Arsenal game and hopefully we will get the same result."

Looks like we're flooding the midfield then to stop the Swancelona from playing those neat triangles

I am so glad they've recognised that, the tactics and the way we played against Arsenal was superb; if we can replicate that against Swansea tonight I'm feeling very confident indeed! Off to play golf this afternoon before footy training at 6pm and down the pub by half 7 for the game, here's hoping for a cracking day! u rrrrs!!

"And if we can fall over in the box a few times we might be able to con the ref into giving a pen. At the very least we will show the youngsters how professionals go about their work"

It's a shame Bowen wasn't so knowledgeable with his comments the other day supporting Ashley young as being right to dive for a penalty.

As for tonight, we will miss Derry, but something tells me Adel is going to have a blinder, I feel it in my bones!

Bowen sucking up to us after his ill-judged comments about Young.
