It`s only a friendly, it`s what friendlies are all about. Find out who`s hot and who`s not! Unfortunately quite a lot of who`s not at this moment!
We will not field a team until the Parma game, the Yeovil game will see the main strike force in action for the first time. Considering what we had left before Malkay came we seem to be heading towards a very interesting season. We choose players and we are getting them despite interest from other sides, these players have faith in coming to Cardiff and they are not coming for the ride. To expect to get a new side together winning games right off when we can see it is about giving every player a chance on the pitch would be pushing it a bit.
Let’s not panic MM needs to see all the players to see what he thinks will be his best team. It's the perfect time to experiment and test things out. Some things will work and some players will gel by the Parma game he will know in which direction he is taking us. By the start of the season he will lay our best team tactics and formation.
the score means nothing, its all about getting the players match fit, yes its nice to win but that is not the main objective in friendlies....
Funny how when we lost 1-0 to Neath (very dodgy pen) the usual wums from bluetitville were all over us, now "pre-season friendlies don't matter". So typical.
Oh Sh1t, i cant believe im going to agree with dulldais comment, match fitness the preferred formations and the players getting used to each others style of play come before the results of any friendlies add to that we have had to replace so many, we still have others to come into the side and im still happy with what we got p.s. ask me after i have seen us at yeovil
I sincerely hope you guys are right. Agree that friendlies are for building on-field relationships and style of play etc, etc... However, I am concerned at the quality that has been brought in thus far. Mason is one for the future, last seasons back four seem capable when all fit (Hudson, McNaughton, Keinan & Quinn) but I think Taylor will replace Quinn and Gerrard to partner Hudson if he finds his Hull form. Midfield is a scary area at the moment, the guys need to gel quickly. Is Whitts going to be used in the middle or out wide? Where will Gunnar fit in? Is Kiss the missing link? So many questions and so little time. I am a tad concerned at the moment not in a happy place at all
From the reports I've seen, Cardiff were pretty clueless in the first half, but improved in the second, and looking much better towards the end of the game, this is about what I would have expected, from a team that has basically been rebuilt, and where the players are still getting to know one another, I expect a bit more tinkering, then something like a first choice team against Parma, I don't see any need to start worrying just yet, this team will improve as it beds in and the players get to know one anothers game and abilities, it may take two or three games into the season before we can make a reasoned sensible assessment of what we have Any comments from those that were there yesterday, how did Kiss do?
Roy, comments below from Malky - will his opinion do? Mackay felt his side were "good in patches" at Bournemouth but "could have been much better in patches" as he admitted: "We gave the ball away too often and too easily and that sharpness is coming but it is not there yet." However, he did praise midfielder Filip Kiss as the Slovakian under-21 captain made his Cardiff debut at Dean Court following his season-long loan move from Slovan Bratislava. "On Tuesday night he played in Kazakhstan for Slovan Bratislava," pointed out Mackay. "So considering how far away that is, the journey he made to get here and how little training he has done in the last couple of days I was delighted with him as he was very comfortable on the ball and not frightened to put a tackle in."
Well we were at Bournemouth, it looked for all intent and purpose it was just a runabout in the Sun, we looked ok in patches and the youngster Farah looks a speed merchant, however we left quite early, see my thread I'm no prude, for the reasons
