Got talking to someone last week who was into her drinking water big time. She was adamant that she could do a blind taste test and tell me what each glass was... brand wise. Is she for real? Is it possible to really differentiate? She was saying that her favourite was an Icelandic glacial water.... I suppose it will be filtered through a thousand penguin tongues or something. I drink water in the gym and it’s notmally a highland spring type brand but I wouldn’t have a scooby doo how it tasted different.
I worked in a hotel remote location in Cumbria where we had our own water supply, it was filtered and treated with UV to kill bacteria, you could really taste the difference coming back over to Northumberland in the mains water from the taps.
I do think that bottled mineral water has slight taste variation across brands. I would always reach for Highland Spring or Evian because they taste a lot 'cleaner' to me. Having said that just about all bottled water is better than tap water which is rank!!
I never buy nor drink bottled water...at least in the UK anyways. I put it in the same waste of money bracket as ironing water which my missus insists on buying much to my constant annoyance. Can’t bare the filtered taste of the stuff if honest, tap water has much nicer taste and is no worse for you than buying bottled stuff. We’re fortunate to live in a part of the world where tap water is readily accessible and is potable. You pay for it each month so why not drink it instead of paying more for **** stuff out of a bottle! Each to their own I suppose but it’s ****ing mind boggling to me like
I really don't like Volvic. It tastes metallic to me so I get what she means. I'd struggle to tell usually though.
The only bottled water I buy is the Tesco Scottish stuff in 500ml bottles and I leave a 12 pack in the car so I have water when I'm out and about because I always forget to take water out of the house with me. Other than that it's tap water at home which is just fine in the north east. I doubt I could tell the difference between different brands and someone carrying on like they are a fine wine connoisseur but with water need to have a good look at themselves.
All the water I drink is bottled and get through 2-3 litres a day. Think I must have injested about 3 tonnes of plastic since I moved here. You do have to be careful of fake bottle water here- clever twats have figured out a way to fill a bottle from their hosepipe and reseal it. Even filled my swimming pool with bottled water (sort of). Bought off the water company straight from the geothermal springs on the slopes of the volcano and delivered in a tanker. Think it cost about £200 quid to fill it!
Never buy bottle unless have to but unless I’m tealky dehydrated where taste means nothing would always prefer filtered from tap rather than straight. Tastes fresher to me.
